Comments (16)Neysa, thank you. There are many more plants still bloom this week. Do you want to see them before the winter takes over. But they are not as many bloom as in May. Happy to say many seedlings that I grafted are also in bloom, or ready to. Houston weather in mid 50 at night, so many buds rot before they have a chance. But that is normal. And the leaves dropping after before yellow. Marie...See MoreWhat kitchen tools to ask Santa for Christmas?
Comments (99)Okay, I've finally managed to read all this thread. I love the idea of that portable timer, but of course, a lot of timers are portable. The stove in my Tahlequah house has a timer that only beeps once, so if I don't hear the one beep, I'm out of luck. Having a timer that goes with me wherever I am would be cool. Early in this thread someone mentioned a bench scraper. I love mine. I actually ordered my Christmas present, a dough rising bucket. Since I needed to order some ingredients from KA anyway, it made sense for me to go ahead and order what DH was going to give me anyway, to save shipping. :) As for the above mentioned microplane with a tray - I learned an obvious trick from a Bobby Flay show once. I felt silly for not thinking of it myself. It's simply to turn the microplane so that the blades are at the bottom and the sides are pointing up, like a U. Then you can grate and catch the zest or whatever in the microplane. I've done it that way ever since. I lucked out at an estate sale the other day and found a 8" Henckles chef's knife for $10. I missed out on the Le Creuset they had. As I walked into the kitchen, a woman was laying claim to the entire set they had for sale. Oh, well, she saved me a bunch of money! Still on my list for Santa is one of those scraper paddles for my KA mixer. Sally...See MoreWhat Did Santa Bring You?
Comments (76)I can't wait until dcarch post a thread on sharpening knives. I have an electric knife-sharpener but I lost the instruction booklet ... I will post pic. and ask folks here for help. Santa didn't bring me what I want for my entire life: socks that are loose on my ankles. I have skinny chicken-legs and they are still tight even when I dropped down to 110 lbs. I can't cook well when the socks retrict my blood vessels. Tight socks reversed the blood flow so I screwed up on my cooking. LOL! I don't have elephant feet either, I wear size 6 woman. So it must be a conspiracy between Hanes and Fruit of the Loom to make socks that shrink to infant sizes in the dryer, so people have to buy more. Yes, I stretch these socks on top of every cans, including oatmeal in my pantry. People would open my pantry and exclaim, "what's this, a socks party?" My 10-years old, who's under 75 lbs., complained that even the men's socks are tight for her. So I chopped off the top "prison-ankles" off, or buy low-cut socks for her. My husband, who is a skinny-marathon-runner, gave me all his size 11 socks which shrank to size 4, and I still have to cut the tight-top off. Comments (2)How many tons of flower seeds do you want? Just joking. I use my old cards to make book marks especially the shiny ones.Cut them and usually fold them in half so I have a front and back to the bookmark. I'd love to have some of your cards. Send me an E-mail and I will check my seed stock. By old, how old do you mean?...See Moregalinas
