OT: POTD: Sometimes you got to start out small
Comments (7)I don't know what they do in the USA, but in Germany carnations are a big thing from the florists. They sell them as a bouquet, like long stem roses, They put a metal banding around the flower, just below where the flower petals of each flower would come out, and that keeps them like that for a very long time, couple of weeks or longer. I love carnations. At one time when I was a kid and my Mom threw out an old bouquet of carnations, I got together with some friends and we plucked the Petals off of each flower and spread them out to dry. And then we stuffed them into a cornpipe and tried to smoke this stuff. Ahhh, let me tell you. I've done some stupid things in my life!!!...See MoreOT- I've got a surgery date!
Comments (69)I'm taking it slow and being a good patient, listening to my body. I can't do everything that I used to yet, but it's way better than using that cane, walker and wheelchair that are sitting in the corner! I've taken up painting old furniture and am having a blast! I've learned how to make chalk paint and am creating my own wax stains and paint colors with tints and white paint, so fun! So far I've painted an old childs' ladder back chair -yellow, an old oak mirror, silver and gold, and my bathroom vanity, to match the mirror. I've also painted my heavy wooden microwave cabinet, white, for my daughter. I've started stripping an oak cedar chest in the garage. I also found 2 french country coffee tables for $20! I plan to paint them too. I'm also slowly clearing out my gardens from last years' dead grass. The soil is so deep and soft from all the years' of compost and horse manure. Little by little. My gardens went to weeds last year, but hopefully, by summer time, they will be beautiful again! Margaret, you are in my prayers for a full recovery. Keep smiling and praising God for how far you've come and you'll get there! I am so aware of His healing hand on me, I just marvel in His mercy and love!...See MoreOT:Twins UpDate
Comments (5)Oh, the twins are totally precious...and BIG. They are just too darling laying int he hammock together! What sweethearts. I saved the photo of the pumpkin centerpiece for our Inspiration album (that I'm waaaay behind on). I REALLY like the idea of the frame crossing the tray, looks wonderful. I had to smile at Bigfoot, the scarecrow, he's a cutie. All the decorations look warm and inviting. Your rustic home, by the creek, seems like heaven to me. Even tho I live in Phoenix, I never was and never will be a city girl. I miss the country life. Glad you got your decorations posted for us to see. Hope you are doing ok. hugs, Karen...See MoreFrustrated with start date
Comments (1)It seems that pool builders are not much different than other contractors. I don't think they are intentionally dishonest, but they tend to overcommit to ensure that they have enough work to keep them busy and making money. We were in a similar situation. Signed March 19 and was told that digging would start by the first of April. We were dug on April 11, gunite on the 28th, and now we are half-plumbed, have tile and coping and still no water. PB had to come in and fix a mistake in the spa. Due to the dealys we decided to have our decking done by an outside firm, which has moved things along a bit. We are hoping to be swimming by July 1, which is far after the May 25 end date on our contract. We like our builder, but as a consumer it is frustrating to always be waiting. Perhaps you'd be less anxious in the fall. I think I would have been, since summer is so short here in Massachusetts. Good luck with your build, whatever you decide. Kim...See MoreRuss Barnard
