All materials will have a color which is a combination of an amount of cyan, an amount of magenta, and an amount of yellow. (or alternately it can also be expressed as amounts of red, green and blue). But also they have another measurement which is the LRV (the "light reflective value") which is the brightness. Therefore, to my way of thinking there are two aspects: - cool versus warm (this is the color) and - bright versus less-bright (this is the LRV). To me it's a mistake to mix cool and warm. The three things (cabinet, countertop, backsplash) should all be consistently one or the other.. Some whites are so pure that they are neither one or the other and can therefore go with anything. I think White Dove and Pure White fall into that category. But some other whites are warm and others are cool. Then the choice of what should be the brightest element is a separate question. In my case I wanted it to be the cabinets so I made sure that the white backsplash was subdued by not being too brilliant. You can look up different paints and see the color and the LRV here. (I used the equivalent of Benjamin Moore for my cabinets. It has zero cyan and zero magenta and just a teeny amount of yellow. If the yellow was higher it would make it warm, but it's so little so it doesn't have that effect). There is no paint that has zero everything (which would be a perfect white). So all whites have a touch of something. And the LRV is quite high at 86%

Also, for the LG and other brands, I called main customer service # to find out where the full slabs are warehoused. There are a lot in Long Island granite places as well as Brooklyn and NJ. Then I went to those warehouses to see the full slabs which look very different to me than the samples. I often loved the sample and disliked the slab. But, the problem with the slabs is that the lighting in the warehouses and the veritical display (vs counter horizontal) also makes a difference in perception. So, seeing anything on an actual display is much better.

What are good wall colors for this combination? I'm installing a Calacatta Novo countertop with white high-gloss IKEA upper cabinets and Voxtorp walnut look base cabinets. Using simple 3x6 white subway tiles for backsplash with gray grout and Rawtech white tiled floor (looks like light concrete). I'm thinking of introducing some greige to shake things up instead of a more typical white like Simply White or Cloud Nine (which looks great in the pictures above!) - Worn Leather Shoe, Upper West Side, or Quicksand looked interesting in the Benjamin Moore online program. Any tips?

Hi guys! I'm in need of advice. We have about 100sf of counter/island space we need to cover. I'm looking for a marble look alike in quartz. We recently received a quote for spectrum quartz of $8200. That included 2 sink cutouts,ogee edging and installation. We cant afford that so we are looking for anyone who many have used another quartz brand, that has held up at a more affordable price. We live in Suffolk County, Long Island. Any info would be much appreciated.
