Hi Depending on how bad of a shock the plant got its pretty much a 50/50 chance. Id bring the plant in and pretty much give it what it likes, good bright light and moist soil. Other than this you just have to wait and see, you could use a little SuperThrive on it to reduce shock if you have not used SuperThrive lately. They are very tough plants and you may find that it is just peachy once it gets over the shock of been left out. Cut off any leaves or pitchers that die as per normal and check for signs of new growth. Cheers n goodluck! Sheldon

We've had some mid and upper 30's over the past week and I was just too beat to do anything with the brugs. They are still outside and look surprisingly good. I've had very little damage, just a few leaves that had frost and shriveled but no bud, seed pod or stem damage. I really must get them cut back and moved soon as I don't know how long my luck will hold. I did begin cutting back the inground plants yesterday. Unfortunately I'm half a zone too cold to keep them outside year round. If your plants are inground you don't have to do anything besides cut them back and mulch well. They'll survive the winter just fine in zone 8. The above ground growth will be killed back but they'll return from the roots in the spring. If they are in pots they'll be alright for quite a while outside. You just need to get them protected before the soil freezes. The frost you'll experience with the temps you posted will damage the foliage and maybe the new growth but it won't harm the plant. You could always take cuttings now and worry about moving container plants later which is what I'm doing. I've left plants outside until Dec in previous years. The stems had turned to mush but the plants still came back in the spring. Can you tell that I have a habit of leaving them to the last minute? lol

I have a rosemary that is about 12 years old, and usually we have only weather in the teens a few times each winter, and only at night, so there is no problem. Last year, however, we had a cold snap of 7º, with 13-14º for highs for a week or two (no negatives here), which would kill normal rosemary. I "had" an arp, which died in this, even though it is supposedly resistant, but my big one I covered with a tarp, with a lamp inside, with a 100w bulb, sealed around the base with bricks as well as I could, and left it for 3 weeks, and the only problem was the brown tips on the branches where they were in contact with the tarp. This is how I keep my rosemary alive, and it has a trunk of about 2 1/2". Dave

I think the newspaper treatment is wasted effort. If the green toms have even a faint white star on the blossom end they usually will make it to ripening. Some will "leak" or get mold along the way but maybe 75% will make it. The better shape the green tomato is in the better chance it will eventually ripen well. Cracked tomatoes will rot before they ripen so discard those and only save the nice green ones with that white star. Some will ripen sooner than others. I've had some green ones take a month to ripen this way. Some only a few days. Right now I have a few ready to eat every day and I pulled my plants a week or two ago. They ripen just fine on a table. I'd hate to unwrap a mushy moldy tomato from it's newspaper covering. My table way I see what's going on and toss the "leakers"...
