Tips for watering bonsai while away on vacation

At the end of December I will going away to Florida for 7 days. I live in a small NYC apartment and have 9 indoor bonsai-in-training on two window sills. Four of them are Portulacaria Afra which are a little more drought tolerant, but I am concerned about my other 5 trees (two elm, a meyer lemon, a serissa, and a monterey cypress)

With my current soil mix (bark fines, perlite, turface, and a small amount of aquarium rocks) it takes around 4-5 days to be totally dry. Besides repotting in another soil mix, are any strategies one could try to keep the soil moist longer? Would putting a wet towel or wet sphagnum moss help? Also, are there any reliable in-home automatic watering systems or diy hacks anyone has tried?

I don't have option of a friend/neighbor watering for me.
