I like allposters.com, though when you order something online you don't really know what it's going to look like until you see it in person. I got this at allposters.com a couple of years ago. I was a little disappointed in the frame but I can live with it. They would not allow me to crop the title and the artist name from this particular print, although they will allow it for others... depends upon copyright limitations, I guess. I've never looked for art on Craig's List, but I wonder if that might also be a possibility?

I have ordered several prints and posters recently from art.com and each one looked exactly like the image I saw online. I have not used the framing option as I had frames and mats I could use already. I would order from them again. I think it is important to consider what you want the surface to look like in your home so you won't be disappointed ... meaning if you are in love with an "old master" painting, it isn't going to look the same in a print with a smooth, maybe shiny, surface. Unsolicited opinion: I may chose art thinking about other things in the room so there won't be dissonance, but I always pick art that I want to look at again and again. I have never gotten "bored" with anything I have chosen this way. I would not pick art that is chosen to match the color of the sofa or the rug or the curtains.

I have nothing against the online mass produced art. With some suppliers the prints may be of poor quality so it's best to check that out but most of them stock the works of great -- really great -- artists as well as a lot of fine work from lesser known hands. Just click through the predictable, over-popularised or simply bad work. But I do also love the idea of supporting artists directly by buying their originals. You don't show enough of the room to make suggestions, really, which is always fun to do although whether they are often useful is moot. So I'm just suggesting a size that would work. Big, to contrast with the two small pieces on the other wall.

When I want to look at a piece of art over and over and keep being drawn back to it, that makes me buy it! Sometimes we’re looking for something for a specific spot, so then size, and maybe colours become a factor in choosing it as well, but still loving the piece itself is always the most important. It’s also a bonus if we’ve met the artist,or if the work was done by some we know, or we acquired it somewhere special. The most interesting, beautiful rooms on Houzz always have interesting art. Generic, inoffensive art bought because it matches the pillows doesn’t add interest to a room or home. As to where to get it? Local art shows, small galleries when we travel, anywhere really (other than big box stores).
