When do fry show color
Comments (12)Actually, here is a picture of the 2 fish in question. The small one at the bottom and the larger one is just under and beside the Red and White Oranda in the center of the picture. The ones that are just grey. Anyone have any idea? Probably not clear enough to tell. They are little less than a year old, I got them at the end of summer. They are extremely fast. Comments (20)Yes, Laura, I'm putting a lot of faith in you guys!! :D LOL The way everyone here goes on about it, I guess it must have a good success rate :) It's very exciting, because I was able to get seed in trades for a lot of things I've been really wanting, but was going to have to pay $5-$10 a plant to get them. And some things, like the white beautyberry, I just couldn't find anywhere. The quest for the white beautyberry is what started the whole thing. I saw one at our local botanical gardens and fell in love. I went back to see if some of the berries might accidentally fall into my pocket (shh!), but they had already cut it back. Oh no! So off I went to search the internet, and I came up with nothing. I had been casually browsing the winter sowing forum (it was up at the top of the page on all forums for a while), and my curiosity was piqued. When I couldn't find the white beautyberry anywhere, I noticed there was a Seed Exchange forum. I started stalking people's trade lists. Then I started seeing lots of other things I'd been wanting. And I couldn't believe that there was a forum where you could just trade for these things, for postage. Wow! I had a few seeds from some of my plants, and some I'd gotten in a trade at a plant swap. I started trading with people, and about three trades into it I found someone who had...white beautyberry!!! I offered her anything I had, told her what was in my garden I could take cuttings from, basically begged like a...beggar. :p She was so sweet - she didn't want or need anything I had, but offered to send me some for postage! She also included some purple ones. The people at the Seed Exchange and here in WSing have been so kind and helpful. I remember reading in the FAQs, trudi said, "It's like Pokemon...you have to collect them all." Hilarious! And how true...I started out in search of just one thing, but once you start looking and realize how many cool things are out there, it's hard to stop!...See MoreHow long before true leaves show
Comments (5)They aren't on a clock, Bob. They don't punch time cards. ;) Like I said above - "assuming proper soil and air temps and adequate light..." So watch yours and take notes and then you'll know how soon it happens given the conditions you have provided for them. ;) Since most of us start our plants no more than 6-8 weeks before transplanting date I would be worried about plants that still had no true leaves after 30 days and were supposed to go in the ground in 2 weeks! But that is just the experience of that one person - whomever they are. We have no way of knowing what starting mix she used, how fresh her seeds were, how she germinated them, how she watered, whether she heated the soil or not, whether she had transplanted them yet or not, air temps, light provided, etc. etc. etc. So all I can offer is that based on my experience, something she had or had not done resulted in slow growing seedlings. Comments (31)Ditto Countrybumpkin. Treat me right I'll treat you better, treat me bad I'll treat you worse. The rest of the time I'll ignore you. Even on sites like this it still applies. When someone tries to put me down or attacks me or makes it clear they don't like me it usually ends up with my back to them. Some vague internet person doesn't affect me one way or the other. If they make it a habit I just write them off. Completely. No congrats, no good wishes,no sympathy for their sorry lives, no response to their posts at all. Ever. UNLESS they directly attack me or my posts again. Then I may respond but then of course they then will run and cry to GW to have my response pulled LOL unlike in real life where they have to own their words and take some responsibility for them....See Morearcy_gw
