Foundation sealing
Comments (3)I don't know about this product, but I had a problem similar to yours: cracks in the basement would leak water, and at other places the cement itself conducted water. My house is built on a slope, but underground there is a kind of a pool of granit that makes water accumulate in the soil. Very funny. So the solution was to excavate around the house, put a drainage pipe all around the bottom of the foundation, seal the cracks in the cement and put a water-tight membrane all around the foundation. My house is 22x24feet, it took 2 days to be done, made a huge mess with mud all over the house thanks to the dog, and cost about 6000$....See MoreWater comes in ? Possible foundation crack?
Comments (15)Stucco is not waterproof and will hold moisture and that moisture can travel. It's possible that the moisture has collected on the front part that you described and the moisture is prevelant enough to cause mold and, getting weak, will break down in time and crumble. The water outlet is suspect as well, and i think would be a matter of digging down to search for a possible leak. Some plumbing is run under slab, and by digging down you find that it is protruding out from under the slab,You might have to pull some carpet back to see if your concrete is damp, but your first indication would be that the soil is heavily saturated in the area of the dig and wet even down deeper than the plumbing line.Since you mentioned that it only gets soaked during a drenching rain,i would lower the soil and seal on the one side, and see how that goes as far as drying up is concerned. If it stays wet,Then i would look into that water line by digging down first and inspecting for a leak.Im assuming by water outlet you are talking about a hose bib.If it protrudes through the stucco wall up from the foundation,(usually about 12"),it could be leaking somewhere between the bib and the foundation in the wall itself.I would think that if this was the case however, that you would have some interior damage to your sheetrock as well as the moldy stucco out front....See MoreHow to close/seal cat 5 cable hole in siding after cable installation
Comments (6)My cable runs through a hole in the Hardi siding. The cable fits through a little plastic bushing like THIS that fits snug against the siding. However, I just noticed the other day that the sun had made the outer ring very brittle and it cracked. When I touched it, it just fell apart. The cable still fits very snug in the hole because only the outer ring was brittle, so I will likely just put a bead of caulk around the cable rather than replace the bushing....See MoreFoundation/Sill Sealing Issue
