LVT Planks vs Engineered Wood Dilemma

leftontheinside

Looking at building a new home that is open concept in which the majority of the flooring will need to be continuous throughout.

Loved the engineered wood but with my young children and 8 year old lab with long nails I felt like it was not a good option.

So I moved onto to LVT...

LVT click planks seemed like the perfect option but from what I understand its not recommended when you have more than 30' continuous.

Now I went on to LVT glue down but its 50% more due labor to install another subfloor. It just seems crazy that this product is that much more than a decent engineered wood.

So now I'm back to engineered wood and focusing on a hand scrapped hickory so there is more movement and texture/imperfections.

Do I bite the bullet and go LVT glue down plank or will the engineered hand scrapped hickory under proper maintenance be a good fit for its intended use?

Thanks!
