Comments (7)Liz some cosmos have a leaf that is similar to marigold leaves like this one that popped up in my beds this year. I didn't plant it and have never grown one of this color before, but I like it. I figure it is courtesy of a bird and I'm collecting seeds of this one. Also bright lights, cosmos sunset and diablo have the same kind of leaves as this one. Barb, do the wave and storm petunia come back true to seed? I've been growing petunias this year from seeds collected from some unknown named seeds my neighbor had last year. She just couldn't resist the $.25 flats when they where marked down. A very deep purple and a very pale pink. They didn't come back true to seed, but have had a variety of beautiful blooms and some very beautiful markings on some of them. Like this petunia that was blooming today....See MoreWANTED: Result of a Plant Swap - Thanks for sharing

Comments (7)oh YUM, Luckygardner!! DH and I were reminiscing last nite about eating Johnny Cake as kids. He hated the way his mom made it, and I loved the way Nan made it. It's like a cornbread, and I remember eating it buttered. Some people put syrup on it. I found two recipes, one calls for an egg and the other doesn't. Does egg go in cornbread? Anyway, here's one. I want to try them both and see if they taste like by past. Johnny Cake (Wanderlust and Lipstick blog) 2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 3 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 cup cornmeal 1/4 cup sugar 3 teaspoons oil About 1 cup milk Whisk dry ingredients together, and then add oil and enough milk to make dough thick enough to knead (about 1 cup). Place in a greased 8 inch baking dish or an 8 inch greased cast iron pan. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and set aside for 30 minutes. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve in wedges or slices with butter or honey....See More2015: Sharing Results Growing Mini Bell Pepper via Saved Seeds
Comments (4)My STATUS this year: I started mine about the first week of April. I have about 95% germination after 3 weeks or so (Despite cold apartment, saved seeds, dollar store soil, etc.) It did take rather long, but I did not give up! (About 2-3 weeks to see the first sprouts) I found they appeared on a sunny day (perhaps because the window was warm, or, because it was 3 weeks already! lol) Here is a pic of the first ones. However by now almost each pod has a seedling (I think 1/12 is empty!) https://mtlbalconygarden.wordpress.com/2015/04/24/mini-pepper-seedlings-saved-seeds/...See MoreDonna-37
