In my experience this is a unique problem with certain microfiber clothes and sweaty conditions. I have been doing laundry effectively for nearly 40 years ( I actually took mine over as an older child because I wanted to do it my way) and I have never encountered anything like the smell on my husband's company provided work shirts. They were originally laundered by a service and they have the bar code on them that made sure they were returned to the correct employee. The company decided to stop paying for that and just gave the shirts to employees to wear if they chose. His are black and I heard that this cloth, which in my mind is plastic, can be bleached so I tried it with just one, then two and I have been bleaching all of them with clorox for several months. I even soak them in bleach hot water for a couple of hours before finishing the cycle. I thought it was working but I realize his closet still stinks. its insane. I have never encountered anything like it. I don't really know if they stank when they were laundered by the service because I was never around them, they stayed at work. The tag is worn but I can read 100% polyester.

Micro-fiber towels are great for a number of uses. I first used them in my obsession with cleaning/detailing my cars. They work really well in cleaning, applying and removing waxes and leaving a streak-free, lint-free finish. This carries over to the kitchen really well. The regular type micro-fiber towels clean well with just water. If you have something really greasy then a little dish soap should do the trick. The waffle-weave towels are mainly for drying and light clean-up. There are even micro-fiber towels specifically for cleaning glass. To be effective you have to take care of them though. They should only be washed with them selves. They will pick up lint from other laundry items. Don't use bleach or softeners in the wash and don't use dryer sheets either. Use hot water to break down grease and tumble dry on a low setting. I use a mild laundry detergent called Charlie's Soap. After waxing the cars and cleaning the towels I also run an empty wash on hot with some of this soap to remove any residue that might be left behind. The ones I got from Walmart are working. My laminate floors took a beating when my 4 kids, 3 spouses, 2 grandkids and 3 dogs were here for a week! I tucked a wet microfiber cloth onto my Swiffer and it did the job! And no streaking! I think I'll cut the one down so it fits the Swiffer better. Kathy G in MI

Yes, I use them for everything in our bathroom. We have a very small bathroom that we recently redid with tile and marble countertops and porcelain tub. I'm very wary about using harsh cleaners on these things so I love the Norwex for this use. Because the floor is only about 4 feet by 4 feet, I do use the cloths on it instead of mopping. I've always been a wash by hand rather than mop gal for all our floors, but since I've gone back to work I sometimes use the micro fibre cloth on the end of a mop thing (don't know what that is called?) I'm curious though. I thought Norwex was a Canadian thing. Is it available more widely now? One of my collegues has a cousin who sells it and she uses their dishwasher detergent and some other cleaners too. She loves them, but I've never tried. If you are worried about harsh chemicals, you might want to look into it.
