Color Through Laminate Counter Top + Undermount Sink
Comments (7)I'd never heard of a Karran sink before. I've learned so much here! I thought it might be hard to clean, since it's fiberglass, but the description on their website doesn't make it sound that way. I thought, from looking at the FKB, that you had Corian counter tops, but I guess note. What brand of laminate do you have? Is it the regular, thinner laminate. That's great they could do that. I looked at your pictures and it looks good to me. Is there some kind of edging applied where the laminate is cut for the sink? I was looking at the thicker laminates, in part, because I thought that they couldn't put an undermount sink in with the regular laminate. Obviously, that's not entirely true. Now I need to go do a Google search and find out what Counter-Seal is and how it works....See Moreapplying laminate counter top to cabinets
Comments (1)Since you have milled the product prior to verifying that it was not cupped, they probably won't take it back. So, place some 1/4" mill stock along the top of the wall attachment cleat and the top of the face frame and attach the top with "L" brackets....See MoreMy laminate counter top smells like salami! Comments (21)I am actually relieved to learn someone else has this problem I thought I was losing my mind!! Help, I have this exact same problem, no salami cause, but I can't figure out why my laminate countertop in my 20 year old home has been smelling of salami for 3 weeks now. I can't stand it! Why does it stink and how can I fix it? Anybody solve the problem effectively?...See MoreShow me your wood-look laminate counter tops
Comments (13)Kate, if you do want something that is very low maintenance, laminate is - the old and the newer. I think you're hearing from other people like me, who had the older laminate butcher block (and it was not attractive as I mentioned). If I were you, I'd go personally to the stores that carry it, and see it installed - otherwise I'd remain leery if I only had a sample piece to make a decision. After a quick look, the big box stores have Wilsonart laminate that is different from what I had (but I can't speak to the quality or final look): Though I did say above to check into IKEA, I personally would not want them for my entire countertop. They do require sealant, and re-sealing, and you need to be vigilant regarding standing water and faucets. Even Waterlox will have some issues, such as leaving black marks where rubber feet (the black kind) are - and some appliances have those. I'm doing a butcher block inset into our countertop, but it will be used for prep work and therefore won't be sealed, and I expect water marks and some bread-knife cuts. We'll remove and sand if we ever need to sell. Having said this, I've a relative who has wood countertops - but she never, ever cooks. Her countertops remain in pristine condition, but she is vigilant....See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
