Vivofit with HRM

My order arrives today and I am excited about it.

Of course, no one needs extra 'stuff' to help them keep or stay fit, walking and other activities don't need 'gear'.

But this sounds like it is going to be fun, and a worthwhile purchase. It even reminds you to get moving if you sit down for too long, lol.

I'm overweight, and due to stuff that happened in my life had bought into a mindset that I was a senior and what that meant is that I really didn't have to do much in the way of physical activity. How I believed that when I saw for myself that people here, for instance, are doing water aerobics, horseback riding, bicycling, I don't know. I think that for many people, what holds them back is their own beliefs and habits.

But fortunately I shook myself loose from all that. Anyway, hopefully the Vivofit will be easy to set up as I am not really a tech kind of person, and when it is ready I think it will be helpful in my journey to be fit and lose weight.

Good for you! I use a HRM, but I use an old model I've had for probably 10 years. It's called a Polar, and it doesn't have any of the fancy things on it. I wear a chest strap and a watch, and use it to record my HR during exercise. It also tells my calorie expenditure, but I mainly use it to watch my HR. Fitness is not dependent on age, and anyone can improve their fitness. There are so many benefits.

I have the VivoSmart without the HRM. It's definitely easy to set up, and the website is very helpful as you start using it. :)

Lucille, you are such an inspiration! I love what you are sharing with us and enjoy your enthusiasm and success.

You are right, we don't need extra "stuff" to stay fit. We can just go out and walk those stairs, use soup cans as weights, use an old man's tie as a yoga strap, etc. But anything which adds variety and makes our activities more interesting is well worth doing, keeping us healthy.

"I love what you are sharing with us "

Thank you. It isn't always easy to know exactly what to share here. Sometimes, people share tmi, other times there occasionally may be subjects of limited interest posted. But I think obesity is a big problem, if those who read here are not more than a little overweight, I can almost bet they know someone who is, and suffers because of it.

It is tough to be obese, but it is also tough to make the resolution to change and follow through. There are things like the Vivofit and bicycling and exercise and other fun things that can help make those resolutions a reality.

Oh. Here I thought this was a post about something you were going to share/drink/do with Her Royal Majesty. LOL

Chisue... Ha ha, Thread titles can be funny.

Lucille, now that you have the ball rolling on this, isn't that motivating? Once you get going, you don't want to mess up!

    Thank you Workoutlady :)

The Vivofit got here a day late, just picked it up. Only took about 15 minutes to get it going.

I have to go walk the dog now to help satisfy its clamoring for daily steps.
