Dig them up, wash off excess dirt, let dry completely,cut off foliage, then put in the basement in a box. That's all I do, I've had plants each year from the original tubers from many years ago. Also, to prevent them from growing they're better out of a pot of dirt. I tried both ways and out of the ground deprives them of the medium to grow.

Cut the stems off at the base, near the bulb. Don't cut off the roots. Just put what's left in a cardboard box, close it up and store it in the basement, out of the light. Pot up early inside next spring, or wait til end of June when ground is sufficiently warm to plant directly into ground.

Shawn I rinsed all soil off and let the foliage dry out by itself. Then I took it off. Was a long process. I just thought that the bulb is sucking in the last juice lol I really only had them in a paper bag for the smaller ones and in a big plastic container lined with paper bags...and all again covered just loosely with more paper bags. Now that was in the shed that got real cold and froze my brugs...but your zone is different with cold Lucy

I need help here. I have had to overwinter my huge (potted)Eleana EE as a house plant because when I went and got one of them out of it's pot, there was no bulb. Only a mass of roots. So the other that I didn't kill goes into the house each winter. I have a huge potted violet stem EE and a huge potted Illustris, as well as 2 Eleana's and a Nancy's Revenge. I want to store them all dormant, but I'm afraid I'll find no bulb to store. I can't find any video on line that shows anyone getting a HUGE EE out of it's tub, and cleaning the mass down to a bulb. The videos that show these little plants aren't a help to me. Does Illustris and the Violet (or black stem) EE have any bulb to store??
