Reduce the number of forums

I can't help but feel that there are way too many gardenweb forums and a large number of them seem to be more or less inactive. I'd suggest keeping only the more active ones and getting rid of the rest. Maybe add an "everything else" forum for threads that don't fit anywhere else.

The way it is right now, so many posts go unread because they're buried in forums that no one looks at.

Without a view counter how do you know these forums are ''more or less inactive''? View counters are common on some better forums and the counts may be 40-400 per day with no activity that would be apparent without the counter.

I agree some mergers might be indicated. I.e. there were, and may still be, once three forums, aquariums, koi, and ponds that might function better as one. You were a bit shy in offering specifics.

Yes I vote to merge them and it's time consuming going through different forums looking for new activity. Maybe have a number that highlights next to the forum name that indicates a new posts?

double duty, where in Texas do you live? Most all of Texas is now home to Africanized Honeybees (AHB); the so-called 'killer bees'. Your neighbor appears to be hosting European bees (Italians, as an example) at the moment. But they're also not likely to stay that way forever. Since Africanized bees are dominate in any area they move into, these calm bees you've experienced thus far will change at some point in the future to the much more dangerous AHBs. The feral colony should be removed (soon). If [when] they become Africanized, your neighbor will face much more liability. And if someone is killed or seriously injured by a feral bee colony from her property (that she knew about but failed to act), she may wind up 'dumster diving' for a living for real! These problems always tend to take care of themselves in the end (just hate to see an inocent person hurt in the meanwhile). She can pay now or REALLY pay later... The reduction in number of bees you've noticed is most likely due to the feral colony having thrown off a swarm.

I was joking OK? I even signed off with VBG or some such. Actually, some of the most magnificent plants I have ever seen are the yucca at Goldfield Summit. Those right at the top are, in my mind, better than anything at Joshua Tree Monument. They are in a league with Saguaro and Boojum Trees. Where do I live? I am a Snowbird and don't really "live" anyplace. Some years I have done Fairbanks to Bisbee passing through Gibbs, Jiggs and Denio with side trips to Pioche ( I really like Pioche ) Montello and Midas just to mention a few of my fovorite Nevada places. When iVillage took over I lost my personal blurb and one letter of a favorite forum and they posted an email that is not mine. I cannot edit my page. I have four potted plants.

Thank you. I was hoping someone might have a specific brand that worked for them but I'm not sure if brand names can be mentioned on the forum. I did buy a weed killer that includes getting rid of dandelions. Thanks again for the suggestion - if this doesn't succeed, I'll try (and try) again. Happy gardening!
