Faucet for Kohler Stages 45?
Comments (10)I also have the 45" sink, at the fabricators now, finally settled on the Kohler Vinetta faucet. It has a significant "spout reach", 9.5 inches, which essentially means the pot of water you are filling can be that far away from the faucet base while still sitting under the running water, (without having to use the pullout sprayer). My faucet will be centered on the entire sink, not the large bowl, another reason I needed a reach. rjr has this same sink and faucet with pictures posted. The kohler karbon looks like it can reach to the next room, but I needed more traditional look. Love the look though. I love Laura in Lincolns double faucets. Hope that helps. Comments (7)5500 is the best designed faucet on the market with regard to ergonomics. It has a whopping 11" reach. What that means is, the dimension from the center of the base to the center of where the water drops is 11". Most faucets are centered and installed 2" behind the bowl. That means the water, with this faucet model, will drop water 9" into a bowl. Most faucets have the water dropping in the rear third of the bowl, causing the user to bend and reach to work under the water - which is uncomfortable and even painful for many users. The 5600 is a poor design. I worked with Waterstone years ago and offered a redesign for the 5600 - which is the 5610 angled faucet. The angle helps a bit, by allowing the water to drop slightly closer to the user, however, it is not nearly as comfortable to use as the 5500 model. The reach of the pullout is nowhere near as important as the reach in the home position. That being said, we have used the 5500 on 54" sinks with ease. This page has some videos and illustrations that might be helpful....See MoreShould I give up the Kohler Stages 45 for a better kitchen layout?
Comments (24)I have heard that sink mentioned many times on this board but I actually looked at a YouTube video on it just now. No wonder you want it Mrs. Pete! i don't have much to add except to say that my kitchen in my house before this house had a setup a lot like your new house with the peninsula. I loved that kitchen. The corner between the sink and the dw was accessed from the other side of the peninsula. I kept linens, etc. there. the only thing between my sink and my dishwasher was a single trash pullout (same side as dw) whereas yours is right next to the corner. Does that make sense? It worked out very well. I stood to the left of my dw, in front of my sink and filled or emptied my dw and most of my dishes went right into uppers above on the wall to the right of my sink. I don't think you can have it so close to the corner, but that single trash pullout cabinet I had wasn't very big. It worked out well. frankly, it was a better setup than what I have now with my big sink and dw on my island as far as convenience. It sounds like you are worried about not having enough kitchen drawers if you go with this sink. if I remember right you have a large pantry that you could perhaps customize for some of your needs? I have pegboard that I use to hang a lot of my pots and pans. Will you have plenty of uppers?...See MoreIf not Kohler Stages 45, then what?
Comments (33)I completely understand. I never would have paid that much for a sink either. I ordered a blanco super single. The plumber provided a double sink to the counter fabricator instead. They looked all over to find me a single sink that would fit the hole cut for a double. We initially tried Kohler strive which seemed basically same sink but center drain. It didn't work but the 8 degree did. I didn't pay the difference since it was their fault and the alternative was to get a new slab of granite. I would never have spent so much on a sink before, but now I've had it honestly I would sacrifice something else bc I love it that much. It works really well for our family, and I use it many times a day so I really appreciate it. Good luck, I also had no idea it was so hard to find a single sink not to mention around here it is not common so the plumber, contractor and counter guys all thought I was crazy for insisting on a single instead of just taking the double that fit the hole they cut....See Moresomersetlass
