Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher - Surrounding Cabinet Issues
Comments (0)I have a Maytag JetClean dishwasher that was purchased and installed in July 2011. It's the type that fits inside a cabinet slot. At the end of November we started to notice a little rippling on the bottom of the side cabinet that houses the unit. Now there's a large light black mark in the MIDDLE of the cabinet and the wood at the bottom of the cabinet is black and ruined. The hardwood floor is fine. The unit has a vent on the top front, so that particular vent isn't an issue. Had the factory service folks come out under warranty to fix this problem. Ran diagnostics and pulled dishwasher out and tested it. Couldn't find anything wrong. We had a new GE dishwasher there prior for 3 yrs. and this was never an issue, the panel was pristine. Anyone have a similar problem? BTW- the dishwasher works really well! Ruining the cabinet - not so great!...See MoreDishwasher height - confused. Would you cut floor to match the height
Comments (16)Kim G is right. The Bosch SGE53X55UC and Bosch SGE68X55UC require only a 32-1/8" cutout height but there would be a nearly 2" gap above either appliance to deal with as they are only 32-1/16" tall. You also could exchange the dishwasher for the Whirlpool WDF520PADM or WDF540PADM. While the recommended height of the opening is 34", the rear leveling legs can be removed, reducing the required height to 33.5" according to the Dimension Guides. Both dishwashers are comparatively inexpensive and well-rated by Consumer Reports. At Home Depot....See MoreHardwood height issue with dishwasher
Comments (11)Ahhhhh Patricia beat me to it. A hardwood floor (solid 3/4") will sit almost IDENTICAL in height to a tile floor. That means if you RIP OUT the tile and then install the hardwood, you shouldn't have ANY problems with the appliances/clearance. The average cost of removing tile is roughly $2/sf. Then the average cost of subfloor preparation AFTER tile has been jacked out = $2/sf (these prices vary depending on where you live and local wages...a depressed area will have very low wages whereas a stimulated economy is going to have high wages). If we *assume (again...numbers off the top of my head to make a point) you have a 300sf kitchen (my assumption...) then you simply times 300sf x $4/sf = $1200 to remove and prepare the kitchen. If someone will do it for less then you are getting one HECK of a deal. To raise the island and the dishwasher and the counter top height and then the plumbing and electrical that sits UNDERNEATH the island = a lot more than the removal of the tile. And that ASSUMES that NOTHING goes wrong. That ASSUMES the counter top is NOT broken (this happens more times than you can imagine). Please post photos of your space so that we can help with the transition of the floors....See MoreStep height issue on flooring/stair replacement
Comments (3)We have another company lined up that is proposing to sand and refinish to match the color on the existing treads, with white risers. The treads are pine (i think) and the new flooring is white oak with a matte, wire brush finish. They say it will not be an issue to match them close enough (the white risers also help to give us some separation and that its the only correct way to do it without reengineering the whole stairs. Prolly my best bet to go with them...See Moreamberm145
