Final Design of Mega SIP - help with Aeration - see Pics
Comments (3)Thanks Ray! I think I will only have one of my heat vents open to the reservoir then to minimize evaporation - I will be filling through that vent into the reservoir. The project isn't without precedence. terrybull on this forum has 100gal SIP's as seen in this thread: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/contain/msg051727444862.html?21 There is a tutorial I see referenced often for a woman who used galv horse troughs. Her example is oval and about 170gal. She references that she made a 6ft round also, but it was for an herb garden, so I may be the first for this size. Here is her tutorial http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Recipes-Patterns-Instructions/horse-trough-gardening.pdf terrybull has a large amount of wicks and the horse trough woman only used five 4" diameter wicks and her soil was 1/3 #2 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 compost/soil. Both had excellent results, so I am pretty confident. I am going with a high number of wicks since I am in very hot Tucson, AZ....See MoreQuestion about mega blooms
Comments (9)nc_steph- It was shot with a Nikon D2X with a 28-70mm lens. I had to wait until the flower was backlit by the sun and the air was very warm for the best pollen release. Holding the vibrating toothbrush next to the flower I tripped the shutter then held the tip to the base of the flower. Since my camera shoots 8 frames a second I was sure one of the frames would capture the pollen shooting out. That photo is one of about 100 shot trying to get that action. I have noticed an increase of set fruit since I started doing this with the tooth brush....See MoreTip thread, all tips accepted ;o)
Comments (25)Thank you Pattico, but I can not get the 50¢ out of this machine......bwahahahaha! These are all great tips, thanks, and keep them coming. I use a wooden salad bowl as a bead spinner, the bowl is just un-level enough to spin with one hand while I use a big eye needle to get the beads threaded onto my working thread, this is for bead crochet and it works great! I use baking soda, then vinegar to clear a clogged drain. First you put about half a cup of baking soda down the drain, then add about a cup of vinegar after it stops foaming use hot water to rinse it on down the drain we have a septic system and that doesn't disturb the balance....See MoreMiele Combination Steam Oven (CSO) owners thread - tips/tricks/cooking
Comments (16)Hi, combi-steam cookers! We just got our new Miele oven, and I’m enjoying steam and combi-steam cooking. I have used some of the auto functions with pretty good results. I’m really interested in the menu cooking feature and have spent some time reading about it and watching some instructional videos. But the menu combinations I’m seeing involve just the plain basic foods. So for example, I’m seeing the salmon/rice or potato/broccoli combo frequently used as an example, but it’s just some plain rice, or maybe instead some unadorned potato wedges, and some plain salmon filets. I would prefer to plan meals around potatoes au gratin, marinated salmon, risotto, etc. but there don’t seem to be any recipes involved while using menu planning. Also there’s a dearth of recipes in general. I’ve found the cites referenced here in earlier post from the US, UK, and Australia. Does anyone do meal planning with real recipes for each individual component of the meal while using menu cooking?...See Moreparacelsus
