Comments (43)The reason Nature's Miracle says not to use any other method of cleaning is because they know you will use another method before buying it. Now they have an excuse as to why their product doesn't work. Nature's miracle is junk. My wife and I are current replacing flooring in our house. We adopted a 3 year old cat that was left behind after the owner moved. We found out why she was left behind. She pisses and poops everywhere. She had some kind of pancreatic issue and was on steroids her whole life. She died at the young age of 12. We loved her so we endured the daily treasures left behind. I would destroy another house full of flooring for that cat. It's a small price to pay for that unconditional love. Comments (13)F-I-N-A-L-L-Y............!!!! Some prep-pics of this project! * Gettin' most of the supplies grouped for this pic! * Pic of shower-side after all holes filled & feather-sanded. Primer cut-in around perimeter, and brushed on repaired areas. This shows those repair areas AFTER the Spray-texture was applied to the primer, making them look hazy/whiter over the gray primer. * Closer shot of shower corner, showing the texture-sprayed area that was primed FIRST....THEN textured...THEN cut-in perimeter. * The "pain-in-the-A$$" upper-corner cut-ins over lights, etc. Notice again the lighter look of the spray-tex. around fan outlet, etc. * Kinda cool pic here! Lights were too damn hot to work over, but I needed light obviously!! * "Main rolling" of primer starting!! * Closer look at the final primer-rolling over the primed/spray-textured repair areas. These areas are now TOTALLY SEALED-OFF from the paint layers to come. Wood'ja like to see the FINISHED look...?!!?!? ;-) Faron...See MoreZinsser BIN primer in the entire house
Comments (9)The shellac-based stain blocker has several qualities ... I had to use it to block a strange iron-based paint from bleeding through. My sister used it whole-house to block smoke and cooking and incense odors. The ethanol fumes are FABULOUS for getting a contact high - it's drinking alcohol! Open all the windows and use fans because there aren't any masks or respirators that handle ethanol very well. The fumes also dissipate quickly, so just keep your child away until a fresh set of nostrils doesn't smell anything. And it's used to seal smoke damage, persistent grease odors, etc....See Morelow-odor primer/sealer for bathroom drywall
Comments (2)Kilz is pretty stinky but dissipates rapidly (an hour or so if it's not too humid and there's plenty of air circulation like a fan in the window) because it dries so fast. We have used it many times and don't have anything bad to say about its performance. I use a respirator and window fan or make arrangements to be elsewhere when it's in use. Their idea of "low-VOC" is pretty laughable though. Don't believe for a moment that Kilz Odorless is actually odorless. You might as well take off the top of your head and stir your brains with a spoon, you get so loopy, and it takes several hours to dry. The "odorless" part is because it contains an ingredient that temporarily numbs the scent receptors in your nose. Stupid, IMO. Zinsser B-I-N is a shellac- and alcohol-based primer-sealer that is also very popular. Also stinky but dissipates quickly. Recoat time is 45 minutes. I have found it a little tricky to work with because it dries SO fast though. I haven't used their Bullseye Zero water-based primer. (Do note that legally "zero-VOC" paint products are not always actually truly zero-VOC. US government regulations permit paint products with fewer than 100 g/l - grams per liter - VOCs to be labeled "zero VOC". More greenwashing! Read the MSDS on any product you want to purchase to check the actual VOC content.) FWIW, if you have adequate ventilation in the bathroom it doesn't matter whether you use an oil-base or latex primer; conversely, if you have inadequate ventilation it doesn't really matter what you use either, you're still much more likely to have moisture-related problems. My last house's most-used bath (which had been gutted to the studs and rebuilt) had C2's water-based wallboard primer with C2 latex paint on top and despite at least one hour-long steaming bath a day and one to two steamy showers never had the slightest problem with peeling, bubbling, or other moisture issues. My current house's bath has lousy ventilation and 2 years after PO drywalled and painted (Kilz primer and SW Superpaint topcoat) we have peeling and blisters....See Morehandyfrank
