Is this June Fever?

My mother in law gave me this hosta in May when she was redoing one of her beds. She got it a year or so ago. It looks like June Fever to me, but I am new to hostas and not that great at identifying them yet. Any thoughts? I'm not really concerned if it goes unnamed. I love it regardless, but just thought I'd see what you guys thought.

'June Fever' has shiny leaves, with a narrow green margin. I don't see the shine in your photo (could just be the light) and yours has more streaking. Yours looks a lot like a young 'June'.

I see what you mean about the shiny leaves, I don't think it's got that shine in person. I didn't even think about it being June but it looks a lot like a teeny tiny June I got from a local nursery for like $2, just a lot bigger. Thanks Babka!

As I understand it, some differences between sports and the original plant are genetic differences and some aren't. In other words, there are more ways that sports occur besides the mutation of the genetic material. For example, the genes could simply rearrange themselves. To know if the genes have actually mutated, I believe you'd have to do a DNA analysis. Anyway, June is a much more beautiful hosta than June Fever, hands down. In fact, though I really like a lot of hostas, I doubt there's one which is more beautiful than June.

June Fever is actually a sport of Hosta 'Devon Green' and the registration was submitted incorrectly. Personally I love how June Fever glows in the spring and in a little sunlight stays light in the summer too. It also looks really nice with dark green plants such as its parent, Devon Green. One of my customers has 3 old clumps of June Fever in their garden and they are very, very pretty, I just didn't have my camera the last time I visited but will take it next time. Just like June, they look very different as they get more mature (which can take years and years...)

June Fever and Remember Me are almost identical. The best way to tell them apart is to plant them side-by-side in full sun. The leaf center on June Fever will be chartreuse to light yellow in mid-summer, while the leaf center on Remember Me will turn creamy white.

Sherry, you will be happy with this one. Here is a seasonal progression. June Fever on May 5, 2015 And the same June Fever last year on May 23 And then again in August 2014. She is in a lot of sun so the leaves turn almost white where they are exposed to the sun. And before you ask, I bought this one in June 2007 so it is a fairly mature plant.

it can take 2 or 3 years ... for a transplant to show it true form ....

planted in may... its spent most of it energy growing roots for next year ...

so its not surprising it might be hard to ID ...

try again in late spring.. and throw a scale in there.. anything we might recognize ...

It looks like my June Fever. Mine is not that shiny either. Mine was purchased
locally, but was a Walter's TC. Given it has a Walter's tag, I'd guess
it's correctly labeled.

Love my June Fever and it grows so quickly too Bought it in 2013 and it just exploded in the last year. Picture I have was from mid July so has darkened considerably compared to earlier in the season but still a beauty
