8x8 sample of countertop gets lighter/darker when installed???
Comments (4)I was a little shocked when my countertop went in. it looked much lighter than I was expecting - and I have the same exact counter in a bathroom! it looks so different because of lighting and space. Luckily, after my initial horror, I came to love the lightness of it. I think it's almost impossible to know for sure how something will look in a particular room, countertop, paint, etc. but at least with paint it's easier to try it on and change it. It's really difficult, so you are lucky to be working with a designer!...See MoreAny 'Rules' For Using Darker/Lighter Paint Shades? (Long)
Comments (5)artlover - I'm sure you are right, but I really don't want to contact any realtors at this point. I have no idea who we would ultimately list the house with, and I wouldn't feel comfortable taking up someone's time if I didn't intend to give them our business later. k9arlene - It would definitely be easier to let the next owners deal with the decisions, but I am afraid that painting everything the same color would just look plain and boring. If I stick to varying shades in the same basic color family, I think it would still appear 'neutral' but also maybe a little more 'interesting'.... Plus, I want to enjoy it for as long as we are still here :)...See Moreshould you paint a chair rail lighter or darker than the walls?

Comments (5)Thank You. We had quite a few samples but it was still difficult to decide since colors looked different depending on the light. Beside we had to make sure it goes with countertops and other elements in the kitchen....See Moresomersetlass
