Farmers' Almanac using 4 letter word for this year's winter
Comments (10)Even a broken clock is right twice a day. There's a guy on another gardening forum who's been saying for the past 3 years that a very cold winter was coming. Even though the 2 before this were incredibly mild (at least in the mid-Atlantic and south) is he now correct in saying "I told you so?" That being, I think this could be G-d's punishment for the folly of playing the superbowl in the Meadowlands.* BTW I have a huge prediction: one team will win! * one of the the world's great ironic placenames. Ought to be called the "marshy industrial wastelands". This post was edited by davidrt28 on Sat, Jan 25, 14 at 10:27...See MoreSpeaking of the four letter word Rust
Comments (7)Rust spores in the wind, Barb. I was feeling rather safe & smug about rust up here in Oregon, but a commercial nursery not far north of me had it confirmed in their greenhouse stock this year. *sigh* I first saw rust on daylilies for sale in a Costco store - it was unmistakable with all that orange goop on miserable looking leaves. I've also seen it at a WW. Many of the Hostas were obviously infected with VX as well, but when I found someone in charge to let them know they should contact their supplier & get healthy replacements - they couldn't have cared less. So I warn everyone to only buy plants from gardeners....See MoreThe Dreaded Four Letter S Word
Comments (3)Yea, just a dusting in my area(south of pittsburgh) enough to coat the soil and melt into the ground. Just think of it as not having to water our plants! Comments (5)Umm, no, not really. You see, LUST is a 4-letter word. Limerance is what you feel when you first fall in love. But it's not love. Love is a decision. It's a choice that is also an emotion. Love is what happens when you get through the first 2 years or so of strong emotions and if you're lucky, real lucky, you choose to love each other. Love is what you choose to feel, if respect and trust are the foundations of your relationship, and if you truly enjoy each other's company. Love is what you feel when you realize the other person has a few warts but also has lots of good qualtities, and you know your life is so much better with that person in it. The way I look at it - I'm working to get independent and to enjoy my new life as a single person. When I've accomplished a few important goals I'll start dating. There is someone or even a few someones out there for me. And, when I'm ready, I'll meet up with them....See Moreplllog
