How to Best Clean a Stainless Grill?
Comments (35)The trays should not be flat. They have a slight drop on either side, but grease will run down and/or can collect with drippings and catch fire. You can look at the Members Mark it has ceramic all across and close to the grate. You then have the issue of grease build up at that point, but maybe that meets your needs/expectation better? The Grates are pretty simple design like all other grills. I honestly don't know what you will find as an improvement over stainless steel grates? See all the info on cleaning on this forum, or just burn it to ash and brush it off. There is at least one grill that has a ceramic element (like the rotisserie) at the bottom and a patented grease burning process. It is much more money, but hey if you got it!? Comments (6)My Mom is still using a set of Revereware that she received as a wedding gift in the late 50's. Frankly, stainless is pretty durable stuff. All-Clad and Emerilware (which is the same construction made in China or Korea) is a "tri-ply. A layer of aluminum sandwiched between layers of stainless steel. Stainless adds durability while aluminum improves heat conductivity. Tri-ply construction is generally considered better than using a aluminum (or copper) disc on the bottom of the pan because it eliminates the hot spots than can develop where the disc thins or ends....See MoreCherry and SS Remodel
Comments (26)Thank you again for your kindness. Angie, don't you remember the endless emails from me and all the info you gave me regarding Scherr's?? I was all set to go with them, but the contractor had reservations since they are out of state. I would have fought him on it, but their lead time was getting to be very long at the time, and in the meantime my neighbor referred me to her guy who had done her kitchen the previous year. I was hugely surprised to hear him say he could give me low-voc cabs for just a little bump-up in price. In all my searching, it seemed to me companies that offered this wood charged much more than we could pay. Yes, Laura88, I'm in the Bay Area--San Jose. I wish I could refer you to the guy who helped me (and his cute doggie he would bring to work!) but he moved back to Portland recently. Hey, Trailrunner! I'm glad I could show you the finished kitchen--it is indeed a working kitchen with lots of messes. I really do love the hood as it does just as promised and has been super-easy to clean. I'll try to post a pic. My water mishap involved my brain forgetting I'd plugged up the sink to clean the stove parts then wandering outside to talk to my neighbor.....yeah, lots and lots of water over the edge and all over more than half the floor. The cab guy came over and removed one toekick and several doors, and sucked out some water from the island area. Lucky me, we had big winds that day, something we rarely have. With the fans, so far (It's been a week,) it's all good. I'm especially glad the flooring hasn't peeled. My husband couldn't believe the contractor was going to install such a huge/heavy thing and thought I had way over-estimated how much air we needed to move. He's singing a different tune now. :) Isn't it so simple and clean-looking?...See MoreSS's Wedding--BM Entitled?
Comments (89)Hi Islander, I understand how hard it can be to let things go, and I'm sorry. When I got married, I wanted to have both parents walk me down the aisle, but didn't because I didn't want my SM to feel uncomfortable. I picked out my mother's dress, which did match the wedding colors, but told my SM what the wedding colors/shades were so that she could match too. My BM and SM sat together in the first row. And no, they do not get along! My SM was included for pictures, and although I would have liked to have pictures of just me and my parents I decided it wouldn't be worth the hassle. I agree with a poster above in that the wedding is about taking your vows. Everything else is just fluff. I tell my girlfriends getting married to expect things to go wrong, do not expect perfection, because all that matters at the end of the day is that you accomplished what you set out to do, marry your love. If uncle so and so gets drunk, if your bridesmaid forgets her dress, etc, none of that really matters in the long run. And you'll have a funny story to tell from it. Why not tell it to yourself that way? Here, let me tell it, I can imagine it from sitting in the back 40! Remember when silly BM made that spectacle and took DH's hand? the look on his face was priceless! I couldn't tell if he would deck her or run like the wind! Thank goodness he keeps his cool so well! My wedding had a lot of drama, and I wish people could have stayed as calm as you did. It can be so hard, but the good thing is that while it only lasts a day the impression you make can last a lifetime....See MoreGooster
