Jotul 450 Kennebec - Clearance to Furniture
Comments (0)I am looking to put a Jotul 450 Kennebec insert into my fireplace and I have two recliners that are on either side of my hearth at 45 degree angles. They are 24" from where the edge/side of the inserts firebox would be to the side of the recliner and I am wondering if that is enough clearance or if I am going to have any issues with them being that close. There is nothing directly in front of where the stove would be. If anyone that has a Jotul 450 Kennebec could let me know how hot the area around the stove gets, that would be greatly appreciated. I'll post some pictures of my fireplace area tonight so there is a visual reference to my question. Thanks, Eric...See Morefurniture for college student
Comments (15)We purchased a coffee table from Target 4 years ago to put in our daughters dorm room. It held up so well, we've purchased a similar desk, folding bookshelves and end table for her now that she's moving into an apartment while in law school. It's Target's mission style in natural. It all needs to be assembled, but then it knocks down easily to be moved. As mentioned, lots of people are willing to part with furniture for an excuse to buy new, if they know it's going to a good cause. It's just a matter of spreading the word that you're on the lookout. A friend is giving us a used, but like new, couch. It's in excellent condition, just a more dated, floral style, but we're looking into putting a slipcover over it. Of course she's also taking some of my basement furniture, bought used about 20 years ago. But it's solid oak and in great condition....See MoreIdeas for kitchen layout and keeping room ideas.

Is it for additional upper storage or are you on a zero lot line? If so, add clerestory windows above the cabinets perhaps if you have high enough ceilings. Curving the island, while nice, will cost more and you still need to be mindful of clearance for door to screened porch. The keeping room seems approximately 16 X 13. It's larger than the the breakfast nook and many would use it for seating/tv space. Do you have convenient private space for family time elsewhere? How much time do you spend at the sink vs the range/cooktop? Based on how you use them, you could flip the two though the sink is in a convenient spot from the breakfast nook. An angled pantry can easily go where the desk is, and if you prefer DO those could go the left of a counterdepth french door or SxS RF. I'd place them next to the relocated pantry and have more open counter near the entrance. If you keep the RF in its current location, agree about the end panel. Not sure why you need a deep cabinet for the micro nor do I like its location in the entrance. I think the kneewall may refer to the counter height bar on the island vs all one level curved counter, but the all in one is not the greatest in your configuration as you don't have enough room for adequate counter in front of the working sink/cooktop space plus seats plus door clearance. This is a case where an outswing door may help if you have enough room on the porch for furniture placement....See MoreDecorating around curtains I don't love but too expensive to replace
Comments (63)For anyone on a budget I suggest you locate the nearest (larger) Habitat for Humanity Restore Store. Another place to look is Goodwill. Inventory changes daily w/donations and sales. Some charity/church sponsored thrift stores also sell furniture. I didn't know these places existed until my Sister-In-Law suggested we stop. I bought a heavy solid oak platform rocker from Habitat on a furniture clearance day for <$40. (I sniffed the cushions before buying.) A month or so later I bought a sturdy solid oak floor lamp/table/combo there for $10. Sometimes there is nothing interesting; other times you find a treasure. It's well worth a look....See Moresoutherngirl1913
