Different crown moulding profiles
Comments (6)Well, our kitchen cabinets are being made as we speak so I'm talking about what's on paper .... However, our house at present has no crown moulding, so the crown which will be installed throughout the house will also be installed in the kitchen. (I know, not helpful so far.) The kitchen is going to be a fairly bright white -- I mean, the kitchen cabinets and wainscoting. The trim in the rest of the house is almost a pale yellow -- it's a deep, deep cream (Benjamin Moore Calming Cream). We'll have all the kitchen crown and other trim (windowsill, baseboard, door casing) painted to match the fairly bright white. We'll have to have plinths where the kitchen meets the family room, though, as it will be in the Calming Cream and would just look plain goofy (I think) to have white meet yellow. Our colors are noticeably different. I'm having a hard time envisioning your two colors (the white with charcoal glaze and Navajo White) and if they'd fight or if there's a subtle enough difference so that it would be okay to have both in the same room. I like the idea of continuity, either whole-house continuity or room continuity. I think for a kitchen, which will have so much of the painted finish (cabinets, trim), I'd vote for the crown in your kitchen matching the color of your cabinetry (doing all in the white with charcoal glaze). Sorry I don't have anything to show you nor can I give you more help .... Good luck!...See MoreAlmost done!!
Comments (22)thanks everyone! It's a labor of love!! I do a lot of stained glass/mosaics, and love it.. so I decided to do what I love on the backsplash! I have a 3ft section left to go. @clarygrace.. our perimeter counter tops are antique brown leather (love the texture, and the fact that it reads black, until you actually put black next to it. Then you see the brown in it). the little slab in the first pic is from my Van gogh, which is the island top. thanks again! Will post the kitchen when done!...See Morei have a dilemma on the buttler bar area, tile backsplash or wall pape

Comments (7)Might well prefer what you have to recessed lighting. From you pic, it appears we're looking at part of an octagon shaped room; if so, you might take that into consideration as you choos y our overhead lighting. This is a round light but it has eight vertical divisions in its design so would go well with a round table but could be used for an octagon room or square table. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&id=A711FE043F5607361EBA79A63F0A369E28193784&thid=OIP.MCtWSskG8eoFIGJ2J0CcvAHaFz&mediaurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazadesign.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2FBreathtaking-White-Room-Color-Matched-with-Black-Chairs-of-Minimalist-Dining-Room-Furnished-with-Sleek-Pedestal-Table-and-Completed-with-Dining-Room-Light-Fixtures.jpg&exph=1254&expw=1600&q=octgon++dining+room+light&selectedindex=17&ajaxhist=0&vt=0&eim=1,2,6 If you do change the fixture but are keeping the square table, you might consider something square to suit your square table. If you're planning on getting a different shaped table, consider your overhead fixture accordingly. Are those fixed windows? A curved rod might be worth considering. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=curved+curtain+rod+for+b+ay+window&FORM=HDRSC2...See Morefldirt
