Seed pod on Uncle Robbie plumeria

I'm in zone 8 and am in the process of bringing my plumeria inside for the winter. I usually store them bare root but this year I have a seed pod on a named variety "Uncle Robbie". Should I pot him up and put him in the greenhouse until the pod is ready? Advice welcome please! I've grown other plumeria from seed pods but they were all ready to drop.

I would try to keep plumeria potted and in a greenhouse if possible. Seed pod development is slow (9 months!). If you store Uncle Robbie bare root, you are likely to lose that seedpod. Keeping the plant in a greenhouse increases the chances that the seedpod continues to develop.

On a different note, what's the smell on Uncle Robbie like? The flowers look lovely.

Thank you James! The smell is quite intense and fruity. I rooted it 4 or 5 years ago and this is its first flower cycle! All 3 branches.

It's in the ground here but I'm lifting them all out this week and storing bareroot. I'll put him in with the orchids under lights. Thanks again!

Jen and K I just got back from Rockport. Today I took 8 inch cuttings of Gladys O'Neal, Magnum Opus, Puu Keaha, Siam Ruby, and Nebles Rainbow, I am coming to the meeting on March 3rd, just let me know what time. I can come on the 3rd or 4th, just let me know what date is best. I will bring the cuttings with me. How many days do I need to wait for them to dry, before I put in the gritty mix, or should I just bring them Saturday without being in the mix? I'm on the opposite side of the bay where summers are warmer. On average right now every day is in the 75-80f with lows around 60f. S.F. famously cool summers tend to be 65f-70f with lows all summer in the mid to upper 50's. Today,80f in Hayward,65f for a HIGH temp in San Francisco. S.F. does Mork have one advantage- winters are a frost free 10b. I get only 10a winters. Some years for me are frost free,but not most..so far. Houston summers are more like the Central Valley in Northern California..near 100 all deep summer until September. Stockton to Sacramento to Red Bluff have blazingly hot summers..but low humidity.

I received my box from Deb today. This is what was inside. Thank you very much, Deb. Now I need to get some potted. The flowers the neighbor weed whacked in the highway curb are trying to come back. I had a great time on Saturday. I loved meeting everyone. Thank you all for your generosity. My husband wanted to stop and watch a movie as soon as we left the park. Ugh! I looked and smelled ferocious, but we stopped and watched Captain Phillips. Awesome movie. We took our time driving back and stopped and had dinner. All in all, we had a great day. Good luck. I also have Uncle Robby and Uncle Ron and they are so special to me. I would baby yours and do as James mentioned !! Congratulations.. Having these from Richard Tobas collection is a treasure. I just added a cutting I rooted ( Samantha Jade).
