Kate, I know nothing about Hoyas except they are a new addiction lol. Anyway, I've got mine in a hanging pot from the flat roof where I was convinced they were frying up from way too much afternoon sun (one of these days I was going to find a better place for them) and today I went out to hit them with the hose a bit...and after (unsuccessfully) trying to knock off what I thought were spider webs, I realized they were flowers! My mini-wax leaf was covered in these tiny white & yellow blooms. About 20 of them. I was so excited I picked off 3 to take into the house and just put them on the counter. Let me tell you...the fragrance is unbelieveable, way better than any air freshner. My whole family room and kitchen smells wonderful! Now I see what I've been missing! Hope yours blooms soon!!!

Fantastic hoyas! I'm afraid I've been bitten by that hoya bug. I bought a few at a Washington Oaks sale about a month ago and the lacunosa is blooming now. I can't get over the amount of flower buds that have formed over the past two weeks. And the scent is incredible! Yep, I'm hooked. I also have h. compacta and these two that I don't know their names. I'm sure you can help me with that, Jan! Felix, I didn't know that hoya means jewel! Thanks for that little tidbit! Your mother's place sounds like it was very beautiful. I have the four of my "jewels" on the screened porch. They get a bit of late afternoon sun. ~Betsy

I have one large, ancient Hoya, which I believe is Hoya carnosa. I can not be certain of this tentative identification since it has been a long time since it bloomed and my memory may be flawed. I rescued it from the trash can about 20 years ago and it only had a few stems with dry, almost, but not completely, lifeless leaves. Now, it is huge--so much so that it is hard to get it outside during the summer, hence the lack of flowers. I understand that probably everyone who grows hoyas has this one, but if anyone wants a slip, or 2 or 3, I will be happy to share either at a hoya swap or the fall plant swap. Just let me know. I plan to move it outside under a shade tree this summer so perhaps it will bloom this year. It has a very strong fragrance. Alice

Hi, I have established dischidia plants, it is the one that has small white flowers, I'm not sure of its other name though. I would be interested in orchids or hoyas, I also have a collection of hoyas and orchids.
