I transplanted my Cornus Angustata (evergreen dogwood) three weeks ago on an overcast day. It had been in a pot for 1 year and I planted it in the ground 2 years ago. This year it really started flourishing. Unfortunately we had to move it - but only 4- 5' away from where it was originally planted. We got as much of the rootball as possible and watered it immediately. Afterwards, we watered it 2x a week deeply if not more. I noticed that as soon as we transplanted it its leaves looked pretty sad and droopy. Now the leaves have started turning brown and when I shook a branch many came falling right off. I'd say it's lost 1/3 or more of its leaves. I'm afraid we've killed the shrub! Is there a way to save it? Some of the leaves look green still.
I put diluted sugar water on it this morning, but not sure what else I can do. Perhaps we under watered it? Right now the soil is very moist 3" below the surface. Thanks for any advice.
