Comments (8)"Maybe. Luckily most of what I have growing shouldn’t require too much acid. I’m sure our water pH of 10 (not exaggerating) won’t help matters however!" Thanks for sharing! Wish I could grow those around here. :-) Story: Was white water rafting out in Montana years ago, the river water had sort of a greenish, translucent hue. I asked the guide why that was, he told me there was so much lime in the water from all the bedrock and mineral deposits, was the reason why. Whole different world west of the Missouri river. ;-)...See MoreInteresting seedlings
Comments (4)Yeah, I wondered where that yellow guy went late last year as it is viridescent. Now I know, lol. None of my streaker seeds germinated last year either. I think the seedling came from a streaked Blue Cadet. I got it as a door prize at our local Hosta meeting. Tag just said Blue Cadet but the grower just labels the mom as all of his are OP. Since I can't believe it came from Blue Cadet, I looked it up and found a streaked version, plus the grower is known for his streaking, so I've made my assumption and I'm sticking to it....See MoreInteresting seedling
Comments (0)Today as I was weeding, I found this seedling coming up next to the base of my cypress tree. I managed to get it out with almost all of the roots intact. Reminds me of Acer platanoides ‘Rezek’. ‘Rezek’ and ‘Lilliputian’ are on the property but a good 50+ feet away. They have never been pruned and none of their plant material has been in this part of the yard (right next to the pond). Acer saccharum ‘Monumentale’ is sited approx. 20’ away. Acer palmatum ‘Ukigumo’, as well. Any thoughts? Is this a common Acer variety that I’m just not familiar with at such an immature stage? ...See MoreSeedling with interesting leaves ID.
