Comments (2)Frank, I have found several late ones. They are usually just sitting there and I don't see recent scars on fruits around where they are so my conclusion is they are on their last legs, sitting on the porch in the rocking chair and enjoying the view. Comments (3)HummerSteve...that's EXACTLY who I was thinking of when mentioning the homemade jobbie that must be fattening these guys/gals up!!! I only dream of having so many hummers at once!!! 3 is the max I've seen and that was only on 2 separate occasions, not by a long shot the norm, it's usually one or two fighting for a spot with ONE dominating each of the two feeders...I have 3 feeders up...one each on opposite sides of the back side of the house, and one out front in a crepe myrtle tree, the front seems to be frequented by the more slow paced, calm hummers, and the ones out back are for the competitive spirited "speedsters" it's quite a show to watch.... I'm tempted to put up a few others out back (this is where I can view them more easily) any reason to think this could help bring more of them around? I also have a feeder out back that HAS to be filled up 100% of the way or it leaks, very annoying to me, and a waste of nectar, because that particular feeder, although it gets a good amount of traffic, still does not get drained like the other one outback.......See MoreHeat: 16 days and still actively bleeding
Comments (5)B'Elanna was in heat about 2 weeks. It was a long time ago and I don't remember the specifics about it because she also went into hepatitis at the same time, which was a bit more alarming. She was spayed before next heat cycle. B'Elanna was definitely not in her first heat cycle, I don't know if that makes a difference in duration. My therio course notes are not clear on this, but it does say heat cycles can last up to 21 days. That's a long time! I hope her conformation troubles are resolved after this. I remember being thoroughly disgusted by the dripping blood and B'Elanna's constant cleaning of herself. Yuck....See MoreIs this forum still active?
Comments (4)Well, just in case my niece is looking in.... Vanessa Baillie, greetings from all your aunts, uncles and cousins in Ontario....Toronto mostly, send you all good tidings and await your return to frosty Canada. We're sure you are enjoying yourself in all that sunshine of Brisbane...we're all freezing still....but I'm sure you already know that from that software you and Andrew converse with. We'll be putting out our annuals in the next couple of weeks. Tulips and daffs are all up and blooming great. Your mom and dad are really excited aren't they about their cruise to the Mediterranean.....your dad's even got a tux for those formal occasions. We are all envious....but happy for them. If you see this by chance....stay well and happy. Diane & everybody....See Moreloto1953
