accent wall -which one - accent color??
Comments (6)I agree with Alex's definition of an accent wall. I have one in my LR which frames my fireplace and is a focal point for the room. Another rule of thumb is that it is a single wall in a room and not multiple walls. However, the way you are describing just bumping up the intensity of the existing wall color I agree is not really an accent wall. With that in mind, my vote would be for A (but excluding the DR walls). What you have described reminds me a lot of my local Pottery Barn store and it is a very good look and does indeed add visual interest to a large and open floorplan without drawing overmuch attention to itself as would be the case with a true accent wall. You should also take into account the amount of light that your various walls are subject too--since that also has an impact on how the wall colors are perceived. In general the stronger the sunlight a room received, the more washed out a color will appear....See MoreWhich wall(s) is the best for my accent wall? Fireplace? Window?
Comments (3)I prefer accent walls to be those with no redeeming architectural features. If you want one wall to be a different color, I would choose the longest wall that has no windows, doors or a fireplace. If this isn't your furniture, then we can't suggest a color. Paint should work with the fabrics and textiles in a space. Bring those in, take fresh pix, and post as a new dilemma....See MoreWhat color to paint nursery walls with this wallpaper accent wall?
Comments (3)I’m thinking three dark walls. This is B.M. Nocturnal Gray, but just a guess to colors in the paper. You do need some blue undertone to work with what I call the “mean” west light. My go to for west light is Patriotic White, so I moved down the strip to find something darker. This color would show great with the white crib, and you could add a white rug on the floor, and a white lamp on the dresser....See MoreShoji white walls with bold accent wall: color for trim and ceiling?
Comments (2)Hi sorry no one has answered yet, did you go through with anything yet? I think it’s not easy giving advice on white without being there in person. However, there can be some clues like lighting conditions / direction of window facing, uou said you are using terracotta, so you can find something with an orange, red or yellow undertone in it and avoid anything with blue or green… unless you want it to stick out. I think you getting samples is a great idea. I found light colors arent easy because it can have indertones that you might or might not expect to show up & can look dofferent from room to room. Shoji white I think has green undertones, but depending on the light snd surroundings, it can look different. you can see how you like it and maybe play with some color cards on the fsn deck first and look at the darker version on each to see what undertones are at play, but thats just the start. Do update when your finished!...See MoreJames Tram
