It depends on the color temperature you get. Its measured in Kelvin (K). 3000K is warm, comparable to incandescent light. 6000-7000 is very cool. I ordered LEDs that are around 4000K which is a neutral light - basically white. Check out envirnmentallights.com or superbrightleds.com. One of them even had a color temp chart that was useful.

Technology being what it is, someday people will say "remember the days when you had to decide in advance what color temp you wanted your light." I just bought remote controlled color-tunable/dimmable LEDs for my living room. I had daylight LEDs in there before and loved how the room looked with them but found I was having trouble getting to sleep--too much blue wavelengths late at night. Anyway, I ordered 2 lamps with the dimming and color change circuitry in the lamp (the fixture is not on a dimmer) with the necessary remote control and have found they are working pretty well. I don't know if I would necessarily recommend this brand (iThird) based on subtle performance issues, but the technology is working for me. High K in the morning and early in the evening; lower K later in the evening to help me transition to bedtime. I don't know if anything similar is available in undercabinet and recessed lights, although I saw a presentation at work about strip LEDs for the commercial market that was actually what sent me looking for the tech for my living room.

If anyone is interested, contrary to my own plan I wound up installing the UC panels under the front of the cabinets instead of the back. I did this everywhere except the PT holder. There, I mounted one just behind it, not all the way to the rear. The choice for me was simple: I could see the panels in the back and not in the front. The PT holder hides the panel to an acceptable degree, and there is no noticeable inconsistency between the PT panel and the next one in front thanks to excellent diffusion. The glare/reflection I worried about is not a factor and I've got a dual wireless dimmer mounted to the wall. Very happy with the results! Thanks again to everyone for your help. Btw, I used "Independence" dimmers and "Designer" panels both by InspiredLED. Peter did a good job, quickly providing plans and suggestions and also fixing a hiccup when a piece arrived defective.
