Any chance there is a plant with aphids above it? Or any other honeydew secreting critter above it?

Basically it's sugar. Orchids sometimes will produce droplets on their own , there is a theory that they do it to feed ants which will in turn protect the plant from other insects. It could also be from insects feeding on the leaves. Look closely under the leaves for scale or mealies. They will line up along the edge of the leaf or along the center ridge.

Thanks, all for responding. I checked the plant again and I see tiny droplets along some of the leaves (not all), but no signs of scale or mealies. No other plants are close by...it sits by itself in a separate window. I will keep a watch just in case I missed some "critters", or other infestation. I definitely don't see ants anywhere on the plant feeding on this stuff. But a very interesting fact that I didn't know, so thank you!

jlcase, you will find these droplets more often on the stems and bases of flowers. As James says, they are basically sugar...a very pure type of sugar. If you taste one, you will get only a very sweet taste, without any other flavor from the liquid. It is a very interesting sensation. I always considered the drops of sugar to be a sign of a well grown healthy plant.

The same thing is one one of my Phals and I was wondering the same thing. I have noticed that it happens the the day or two right after watering.
