So I was in Staples buying file folders for my filing cabinet when I got this urge...more of a calling I'd say to go to my favorite garden centre. So off I go and I wander in and what do my disbelieving eyes see but a Domino Peace Lily in a 4in pot. I had to use every ounce of my strength to stop myself from grabbing them all and running around the store in a psychotic squealing frenzy. They've always had these in 8in pots but I just HATE buying big plants. Not nearly as much joy in growing them as there is if you buy a small one and get it to an 8in pot yourself. So though they always had those I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for about 2 years to find it in a 4in pot. Alas my patience has been rewarded and I also managed to only buy one, which wasn't nearly as hard as refraining from squealing as I dislike duplicates. Finding this plant also negates the upset that I should feel at having bought file folders that don't fit in my cabinet.

Florisse.... You are displaying the classic symptoms of becoming a Fig-Psychotic! We were all "normal" once, but for many of us, that was a long time ago. I was bitten back in 2007, and the disease is insidious. If you want that tree to really take off this season, go to Home Depot, and buy an 18 gallon storage tub, drill plenty of wholes into the bottom, fill it with a good potting mix and plant your new Mission fig tree into the container. Get yourself a lawn chair, then suit back with a nice drink and watch your tree grow from day to day. Wait until the tree starts really producing those delectable figs! This will become your botanical child. Yes, you are hooked! I have my containerized trees in large tubs, and I use dollies to move the trees around. The amount of information that you will find on this forum can be overwhelming, so don't try to read it all at once. If you decide to grow the trees in containers, concentrate on the information posted regarding this kind of specific culture. Containerized figs need a different type of culture than figs grown in-ground. Read, and if you need to ask questions, everyone of this forum will give you the answers that you seek. Growing figs is probably the most rewarding fruit tree that you can grow...you'll have figs this year, and every year from now on. Winter treatment will be your biggest "problem". In what climate zone do you live? If you have an unheated garage, figs can be overwintered there. You need to tell us your climate zone and how you intend to overwinter your trees...but that can wait. For now, just enjoy your trees. Good luck! Frank

Good find! I believe it about Lowe's. Gardening as a hobby is growing so fast that I doubt that even plants at Lowe's are staying there long enough to deteriorate much. I keep meaning to stop at the Lowe's on the way to work, expecting to see healthy plants, but my pocketbook's afraid to. ;) So far the rose cuttings are doing well. It's only been a couple weeks, but one has already sprouted new leaves ~ and that's without rooting hormone or really good care (they got pretty dry last week once or twice). I haven't checked for roots, don't want to disturb them, so the new leaves may just be a sign of how healthy the plants were. They were gorgeous, so the limbs may have had enough energy to sprout new leaves without roots.

I'm almost ready to put the binding on! I used my little machine and did a zig zag stitch in the blue thread around the pooh and friends blocks. Then I did a line down the outside around the red... Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas, and the compliments! Lisa
