Comments (37)Lynn - I know I will remember playing in the snow for many years. I love it when my adult children still want to play LOL. A few years ago I came home very late from a Christmas party and DD asked if I would go sledding with her, we did and we laughed so hard - they could probably hear us for miles. My pedometer is the cheapest model I could find from Walmart for $3.83 and not worth any penny of it. The buttons are not recessed at all, so it can accidently be reset. I saw a wide range of them, so I would think you could pick a decent one up for about $10. If you want to try out a cheap one, send me your address and I will ship it off to you. KY Susie - I haven't drummed since last year, but the women's weekend is approaching, so I will be drumming soon. I love broccolini, but we can't always get it by me - very tender and just cook it like you would broccoli. If Lynn, doesn't want my cheapy pedometer, let me know, you can try it out - I just question the accuracy. Marci - my oldest DD still says she is heading to San Diego and my DH get's so upset by it. I don't think it will hit me until she actually does it. It's just an adjustment for you and you will snap out of it. Maddie - that guy knows a good thing when he sees it! I can't remember the last time a guy made a pass at me. Tikanis - glad you got to spend some time at the beach - sounds like it was just what the Dr. ordered. I feel that the appliance breakdowns are behind you, sort of a metaphor for this past year - but now you have come full circle and a lot of good is in store for you. DeeMarie - don't feel guilty about not exercising, you had to get your body healthy first. I did what was suppose to be 10 minutes of ab work this morning, OUCH (and I probably only did half of it). Suzanne - when is this cold spell going to break? I am really beginning to HATE it. I could never do what you do - there is no way I could drag my cold butt out to the barn on these frigid mornings. Is SP taking her supplements any easier? Besh - are you hanging in there - how much more snow did you get clobbered with? Gret - hope you are feeling better. I have a ton of work that is going to keep me in my seat today. Maybe whenever the phone rings, I will walk to another desk to answer it....See MoreSS Daily = Monday, August 6 till August 12
Comments (42)Hi and thanks for all the birthday wishes!! It was nice to be remembered!! I have had a fun few days. Yesterday's lunch with my family was nice and my friend and I had a great time at the show today. I got a pink pig that is just adorable. My maiden name was Hogsett and I have fondness for pigs, even though I was teased as a child. Here is a picture of my newest wool ornament. I also got a santa carved from a reindeer antler. The gentleman who carved them goes to a reindeer farm in Alaska and gets the antlers that have been shed, brings them back and carves them into ornaments. He was written up in several woodcarving magazines. We got to talking and I told him that several of my favorite ornaments were from a woodcarver that I met at a craft show in my hometown and it turns out that was his father. Small world. I was glad to hear his father is still alive and kicking, but he can't carve anymore due to arthritis. Patti - I think BJ said her surgery was later in the month, aroung the 21st. I too hope we get to meet someday!! Give Dave a hug from me and please get better soon. DeeMarie - The book arrived (thanks) but I am mad at you for that little something extra you included! LOL You know that wasn't necessary, but you are a sweetheart and I will graciously accept. (:~) Raeanne - Even though you didn't get pictures of Rich being surprised, I am sure you have been able to get many other Kodak moments this weekend. Hope you are enjoying every minute of DD's visit. Besh - Are you done with the benches yet? I can't wait to see the meteor shower. I remember sitting outside with my kids and watching them. Lynn - I hope you had a great day "winging" it. Where did you end up?? Donna - How sad that your sister can't see that she needs help, or sees, but just refuses to accept help. I can't imagine how painful that must be for those love and care for her. I've got to go and pick up DH at work. His truck sprung a leak in the gas line and he is going to try to drive it to a mechanic's close by and leave it there so they can work on it on Monday. Later, Marci...See MoreAnyone using Fitbit pedometers?
Comments (3)I'm currently using the Flex (wristband style) and agree with you that in can be inaccurate at times. I've found that it makes a big difference wearing it on my off-hand (i'm right-handed so when I write, i think it was counting those as steps-- now i wear it on my left wrist). i haven't tried the clip yet, but am curious to see it's accuracy compared to the flex....See MoreThe Quilt Forum diet/exercise challenge:
Comments (15)DH downloaded Diet Organizer Moble by Mulberry Soft, $25 to buy but you can download and use for 30 days free. It keeps track of your exercise (yes, yard work counts), and what you eat. He updates after each meal/exercise session and has lost 50 pounds this year. His is on his PDA, but there is a version for the pc too. You will be surprised how much less you will eat if you have to write it all down. But that will come later, now we will just get moving more. We went to a continueing education on diet and exercise and her point was move, just move. For 30 minutes a day extra, just move. During our breaks she whould go out and walk around the parking lot while most of us were standing and talking and got her 30 minutes in before lunch while teaching the class. That was when I decided it could be done and have started trying. Here are some tidbits she also gave us: Running is not really better than walking for weight loss and is harder on the knees and hips. One step up stairs counts as 2 steps walking because you have to pull your weight up. Hold your arms bent at the elbows and close your hands. Letting them swing can cause stress on the shoulders and hands. Jumpping rope for 5 minutes is about the same as walking for 15, but tougher on the knees and hips. When doing yardwork be careful not to use your back. Using your legs for lifting and carrying is safer and burns more callories. Good luck and I'll make a new post for weekly updates. beverly...See More- 10 years ago
