So their unwillingness to paint over their beloved murals has already cost them $1.8M. How much more will it cost them before they find someone with their exact tastes or who has enough vision to see past all...that.

Even if I had 5 million dollars and money to redecorate, I don't think I could live in such a place. Certainly doesn't seem homey, inviting, warm, comfy or whatever words you might choose to describe a home.

I am only going to look at the positives!! I love the Trustile doors:-) The lions are a little much. The other stuff on the inside was just fine but you added the lions and that was where I thought they should have exercised restraint:-)

With some selective painting over, much of the house is attractive. But they'll never get back what they paid for custom mural paintings.

The two bathrooms with floor to ceiling murals are so bad they're good, in a way. I'd leave them as they are for the amusement factor.

It is a beautiful home but the murals are overwhelming. I have posted before that I had Victorian phase and as a muralist/faux painter I had a home with a lot of murals, but that is so over the top. I moved to a home and several since that just couldn't handle murals. This needs a good painter.

in looking at the Great Room, there's a painting there just visible on the right -- do you suppose that would be the owners painted as Roman gods?

wow. I guess that is what you call 'taste specific'. I'm kind of scared of some of those rooms. They really need to paint it white, remove all the furnishings and move on, or have a staging company do an intervention.

I actually like the first two pictures (both bathrooms?). They are like walking into a fantasy-fine as long as you don't stay too long! I think they would be fun if the rest of the house were decorated with understated elegance.

I think anyone with that kind of money to buy is looking at the bones of the place, going by the stone retaining wall in the first pic, it looks hastily slapped up and probably ready to fall down, wonder if this is another Money Pit that's noticable once you turn on a faucet or walk up a stairway.

Whatever the style is it certainly is something. I did mistakenly say the home was in Oconomowoc. Actually that is the location of the lister. The home is on Pine Lake in the Village of Chenequa (Hartland,WI).

I am not sure what the first muraled room shown in my original post is, but I don't think it is a bathroom. It has upper cabinets on both sides of the room and the sink faucet looks like a kitchen faucet. It also looks like those might be 2 dishwashers, (painted of course) to the right of the sink.

I just looked on the current lister's website and it has 48 pictures for the property, so here are some more. I promise, I won't add any more after this.

The current lister states that "Every detail was hand selected with thought and meaning behind every selection". Good to know that, I thought it was just heleter/shelter.

The architecture is not my taste, but the lakeside setting seems lovely, the interior doors are beautiful, and I'd love to play my music in the two-story Parthenon room. And no matter what, the Enchanted Forest bathroom should be preserved. It's AWESOME!

egads!! 11,000 sq ft to redo!! but, there is little I like about the interior looking past the 'wild' decorating, so even if the whole thing was sedate/neutral I would have no interest!! I wonder what it will actually sell for......
