I was wondering why it's quiet here at the Party today.
Comments (9)We send at least two teams per year, but we haven't been able to get in the country for a year now, due to the unstable conditions before and immediately after the elections. I haven't checked lately to see how the new President is doing. The small orphanage we support is administered by Dr. Hubert Morquette, who is a wonderful Haitian physician who returned to his country after being education elsewhere. You bring up a very important point....as the kids reach a certain age they need to learn some skills or advanced education to find some work, and even with those skills there's not much to do in the Haitian economy. Several of the older kids have been adopted and brought to the U.S. by families who were fearful of their future in Haiti. As is the case in many parts of the world, the only ones left after the govt's leave are the faith based organizations, which is true in Haiti. The U.S. government has once again withdrawn Peace Corps Volunteers, and it looks as though they have abandoned the mission there. There are no plans to reinstate Peace Corps in that country....See MoreIt's here! It's here! (Bluestone catty)
Comments (16)Mine came the beginning of last week but I didn't have time to drool my way through it for a few days. I always have a lust list from the previous year that I try to finish off either with the % off right away or wait for the 50% off sale. Either way they guarantee the plants, no strings attached. I got a cimicifuga racemosa during the sale last year that didn't make it so they're sending me another one this coming spring. This will be my fourth year ordering from them and everything has grown and thrived. Great plants & customer service I haven't found anywhere else online....See MoreIt's Snowing Here Today
Comments (8)Snow in April can't last, even in southeastern Michigan--the air and earth are warming, the number of daylight hours is getting longer every day and we're past the middle of April. The last frost is only a few weeks away. Anything that's up now can take whatever bad jokes Mother Nature throws at it (including snow), especially winter sown plants--they're tough as nails. It's been a very cold spring here in CT as well--I still need layers to work outside clearing winter's debris from the flowerbeds. Everything I grew last year via WS is up again: turtlehead, lupine, rudbeckia, agastache, penstemon, Siberian iris, daylily, ladybells, painted daisy, blackberry lily, butterfly bush, delphinium, Echinacea, Maltese cross, blanket flower, Montauk daisy, globeflower and more. My WS sprouts are waving at your WS sprouts and urging them to hang tough until this white stuff melts away....See MoreIt's here...It's Here!!! Lots of pics!

I also like the contrast of the hard, formidable stone against the soothing curves of your sink and faucet - just awesomeness! Can't wait to see it all come together! Enjoy!!! (or if you're like me, just spend hours staring at it!)...See MorePKponder TX Z7B
