Yet another (last one!!) question about mix for beds
Comments (1)That sounds pretty good, as long as it's good compost. The stuff I got from the bulk materials yard I wouldn't have planted right into, but the compost I made myself from horse manure, leaves and kitchen scraps I would have, if I'd have enough. What I discovered is that when I broke up the ground under my beds, the soil fluffed up a lot, so it got incorporated in with the compost. Also, just a little vermiculite goes a long way. I got a 4 cubic foot bag at HD for $13, and spread it between a few beds, and it's great for keeping the soil light. So, I'd add in just a little regular soil, if you've got decent native soil, plus some vermiculite for extra fluffiness, and go for it....See Morehelp. another last minute shoulda known-dw panel how to?
Comments (10)Good afternoon deedles, My cabinets are full overlay and I have a Bosch paneled dishwasher. The panel is flush with the fronts of the cabinets on each side of it. I do have a bit more space on the right side of the dishwasher than the left but that is because of the way the curved cabinet was made. I think the dishwasher panel could have been made wider (it is flush with the edges of dishwasher door). If it was wider it could have covered some of that extra space. I read somewhere that the panel should be made 1/4 inch less than the width of the opening rather than the exact width of the dishwasher. The litlle extra gap on the side didnt bother me enough to have the panel remade. Maybe someday I will have it remade though, because the cabinet maker also put a stile in the middle of the panel even though I don't have stiles in the middle of my cabinet doors. Nobody has noticed that until I point it out but sometimes I think I should have changed it. Here are a couple pictures of my paneled DW...See MoreMy last question! (or close to last!)
Comments (9)Thank you all! The over-the-door handles do not come in another color but aluminum... I have seen them in other colors but they are a different type that are not as thin and would not be useful for us... If I paint them, wouldn't the paint come off? Does it have to be a special paint? We would put them in all drawers, good point that it will be hard to grab the top one with the granite installed. I always learn something here! We checked and there is enough space for the regular handles and a knob in the door, just will have to be careful. If they break i can replace. I am assuming that the regular handles (ceramic with ORB) go with the style of the cabinets and that you like them? I take the opportunity to show off my knobs, which are hand painted and I really like: If wanting to save a few inches I can also use these black ones instead of the ceramic handles: Thanks for your help, please let me know if you like the handles with the ceramic and ORB.......See Moreanother knobs or pull question?
Comments (3)I prefer knobs on doors & pulls on drawers....and that's exactly what I did...with birdcage knobs & pulls! Uniformity can be boring...not to mention less functional. It's a lot easier to open a drawer w/a pull than a knob. Also, knobs on the top drawers can get caught on pant pockets and belt loops. What's the style of your kitchen? Is it the style that's driving your KD's need for uniformity? (Remember, though, this is your kitchen, not his/hers!...See Moredaisychain Zn3b
