Now, for sure) Leave it in the shade for a week or two before you put it back into full sun if you do a bare root which you should do...If you start with a new mix, you should try to get rid of as much as the old one as you should.

I forgot to write in conditions. The total time of the transplant is the length of the video. no editing was done.

Because my tin was bottomless there was no root wrapping. If your roots are wraped you will need to do a little root pruning.

I had all the materials ready including water so there was no dry out time on the roots during transplant.

Please advise....I had used orchid soil in the past for this citrus, and thought it was not draining well, I just use a Citrus mix I bought, and I did the transplant.....to be honest I am not real happy with this soil it seems to hold the moisture even more...should I just wait and see? OR

You can add an equil amounts of pine fines to your mix and it will do a lot better. If your pot is going to be on wheels or small, you can use coarse sand. It can be heavy though. Adding perlite can loosen the mix.

Miammijoe, what ingredients do you have access too? What kind of choices do you have? Do you have access to pine bark, perlite, heavy soil mixes containing mostly bar? Miracle grow? Farfad mixes?

Well, I have most of that, but what I did was I took Miracle Grow for Citrus and just used that, I thought since it said Citrus it would already have a good draining soil...so I guess my question is I just potted it on Sunday....should I re-do it and add more perlite and pine bark? Can you post a new picture of your tree and new pot before I comment so I can see what you have. Can I assume that the miami in miamijoe is in florida. That makes a difference in answers to. is your new pot porous (clay) or not (plastic, glazed clay)

well I guess the name is can lead you believe that..I am in Zone7 in South Jersey..its a plastic pot just like the one in the above pic...I have the items to repot but just worried because I just did it Sunday...

Go ahead and mix up a better mix. When I transplant I place the tree in a dark wind free area for a day to help with the initial transplant shock. You should do well. I have always used a heavy mix and in the winter I would draw are through the roots with a vacuum cleaner via. a vacuum chamber

Lots of holes help. Vacuum plus holes and you can leave your tree as it is.

Yes, do another repot with a much better mix..I know your tree will be much better off with a very good porous mix all winter and summer...funny, don't believe what the Soil Bagged Mixes always say about being good for citrus..If anything, it worst..It happens to all of us, so don't feel bad)
