Few shots of the July yard
Comments (26)I am so sorry for the screwups in the names... getting old and sloppy. That agave in the first photo is indeed A angustifolia, not attenuata... I just mix the names up when I am having a senior moment (most of the time now). And the Hoya is indeed obovata, not ovata. Sorry about that. Here are some more shots, but not all from this week Huernia species blooming nicely Pachypodium lealii Crassula unknown Crassula Springtime (odd name as it blooms all year round, best in the winter, not the spring) Sempervivum collection, that sadly, just was not a good one for my climate... this is how pot looked in June, but by August, 90% dead. Euphorbia group pot Echeveria group pot Bowieas (started out as a split 'rock'... now a pile of boulders) Nice Kalanchoe Pseudobombax new leaves Graptoveria Fred Ives, one of the easiest and most prolific plants I have ever grown... almost a weed one of the wive's creations One of my favorite vines... Xeriscyos danguinii (aka Silver Dollar Plant)...See MoreConifers in the south - a few pics from around the yard
Comments (11)Wow, lcadem, that's quite a compliment! Thank you. The photos in this thread were all taken with a tripod-mounted Sony A7 with a Sony FE 55mm f/1.8 lens. Aperture set to around f/3.5, if I remember correctly. All shot with manual focus, which is easy on the A7. Many of the photos on my website were taken with other cameras and lenses, but the key is a sturdy tripod, a good lens, and tack-sharp focus. Thanks again for your comment - you made my day!...See Morejust a few random pics from last year
Comments (17)Moccasinlanding, i am embarrassed to say I do not know if that is an English Dogwood .. it was here when we moved in, and I am very very new to any gardening other than mowing the grass. I really have just started to hobby garden 4 years or so ago. Ken, as to that one Great X under the shrubs, I will try to get a early picture of it this year. I thought I bought all five of my plants the same time and place. Also unless my memory fails it looks brighter at first, Anyhow I will try to get some early comparison shots, heck it will be fun to have a photo project for the spring... The funny thing is I had them purchased and in the ground before I found out they can be DIFFICULT, my first thought was DANG ! I really liked that type. So far they have been no problem (it pays to be ignorant) or so they say... I have heard of locals with hundreds of types that can't keep Great Expectations alive, or lose them over a winter. So I just enjoy them and hope for the best... they haven't come up yet ! fingers crossed. This post was edited by leafwatcher on Tue, Mar 19, 13 at 23:44...See MoreA Few Shots From Above,,,
Comments (31)Wow Jill! I am proud to be a fellow Wisconsinite. My garden looks like a child's sandbox in comparison. I will have to remember the next time someone goes on the roof to hand them a camera. That is something that had never occurred to me. I live in a small town 35 miles sw of Milwaukee. I will be thinking of you and your amazing gardens as I travel to Oshkosh this Sunday. Kathy...See MoreJasminerose, California, USDA 9b/Sunset 18
