FYI dishwasher & electrical outlet code issue

A head's up -

I read on several threads here that dishwashers do not need to be placed next to the sink and even can be several feet away. That's so according to my plumber. However, I learned today that I will have an electrical code problem because I have a small cabinet between the DW and the sink. The DW outlet must be accessible and an outlet behind the DW is not considered accessible because the DW is screwed into the DW enclosure. It would have been acceptable to run the wiring (plug - all DW now must have plugs, not hard wiring) through one cabinet wall to an outlet under the sink but not through 2 (or more) cabinet walls to get to the outlet.

I'm going to check on this as well as acceptable hacks over on the electrical wiring forum, but I don't have any real hope that my electrician is wrong. He's licensed and takes regular continuing ed courses and re-licensing exams.
