Help for new cactus

I have a lot of new cactus that are growing really well but are turning red. I guess it is too much light but they are in my greenhouse and get normal daylight hours. Can anyone tell me what to do.

There's probably a limit on the file size of the pictures. Try saving your picture as a JPG file. Normally, the reddish colors appear when they are getting enough sun. To me it is a good sign. I like to see a bit of red in my plants that change because of enough sun. Not all of them do that. If the red you're seeing is because of sun light then giving them less sunlight would cause them to become more green after some time.

Generally, with cacti and succulents, a bit of red isn't a problem. I don't worry about it. Can you show us a picture of what is causing you concern?

I had one of these years ago... it was my favorite cactus... the spines never came out in my hand! But from what I have found, while searching for Selenicereus testudo, are images of what I think is the Mature form of this plant. I think the one most people have in pots is an immature or juvenile form. Maybe potsize has something to do with preventing it from maturing? So, if it's just a juvenile form, there won't be any flowers produced. So, has someone started marketing this plant again, I haven't seen it on the market for quite some time. ks-girl, where did you buy it? Feel like trading a few pieces? I can send you a few pieces of Cleistocactus winteri, which looks similar to but thicker than Aporacactus flagelliformis.

Those are just vestigial leaves dying on your Opuntia (which is in soil which needs more drainage). That's no real concern, but I'd modify that soil so that it's more porous.

Agree with Imonstella, it looks like a case of 'wet feet'. If it was erect before and now flops like that, I would check the roots for water damage. What is it potted in (soil?). I would check for any yellowing and also check the stem by gently squeezing - it should not be soft & squishy, these are signs of possible rot (not easy to check cacti stems :) I don't know this plant - just comparing before and after photos - there are some cacti that sprawl like that. Personally, I like to see plants potted higher in the pot - filling it with more mix (not planting plant deeper!). And I would also move it into more sunlight (gradually). Rina

Water only when you feel it give a little if you very gently press it (I don't water on schedule). I have mine growing in pumice, too, so you can just imagine how dry that is. I've lost one before---a young one that literally burst from over-watering and that kind of mistake collapses the blob over a period of hours, not days. So when you feel it is turgid, leave it alone. I have mine in dappled shade most of the day and it gets only about an hour of direct sun in late summer afternoons. I also just got a pumice pot for it. I use these for succulents and cacti that scare me lol (like cintias, arios, some euphorbias and this one).

Some are a darker red than others, will they go back to green as they get older?

While I typed that ^ you figured out the picture problem :) Good. You didn't mention they are seedlings. That's looks normal for seedlings. However, I've not had a lot of success with growing cacti from seeds. You can try reducing the sunlight a bit and they might grow a little faster but if they grow too fast they'll become etiolated and that isn't good. Someone else might have some more advice for you.

Thank you for your help I will see how they go this Spring/Summer. I am hoping they will grow to double their size. I am very grateful for your input.
