Sue, welcome to the forum. My suggestion for getting IDs are as follows: Wait until they are fully leafed out to take your photos. Photos with flowers are helpful. Make sure the photo is close enough to count the veins in the leaves. Also a photo of the back of the leaf won't hurt. Put something in the photo for scale - a cola can, an ink pen - some object that everyone knows it's size. Put no more than 2 or three plants per post (make multiple posts). The reason for that is that several people may comment and ask questions. Then you get a long post and then you're scrolling up and down and getting confused about which hosta is hosta one, hosta two, etc. There are 1000's of hosta, so any identifying information will help narrow it down. Most everyone enjoys IDing hosta, so bring 'em on. bk

Yes. Thank you for responding Gardengal. It's good to know Monrovia is reliable. That's the exclusive brand for many items at this nursery. The reason I became suspicious is the leaf shape and noted size on the tag. The photos I pulled up on NH Hostas and Hallson shows a little more rounded and shorter leaf but when I look at the bottom leaves of the so sweet I purchased...they are very elongated. 6 in long x 2.25 in at widest. The Monrovia tag also says size: to 12 in high x 24 in wide...whereas the two hosta mentioned size to be 20-22 in high. Confusing to someone new to Hostas...

I thought so much as the generic & Crosby but wasn't totally sure. Thanks for the tip on the light - I have them in a full direct light west-facing window, and I don't have an east-facing one in my place, so that may be the best I get for them for now, but I'm moving soon so will see what happens if I can find a better spot for them. I had thought maybe they were unhappy because it gets a little cold in that room, especially against the window they are near. The second taller one is actually a new growth I planted last year from a piece of a jade I had for years and years and accidentally killed with root rot :( Luckily I at least salvaged a re-growth of it.

Perhaps Royal Standard for the one on the right. Mine (in significant shade) is quite dark - like yours.
