DalTile via Home Depot or DalTile

We want to use Arctic White 3x6 and 4x8 in shower remodel.

pricing through my tile guy's source who drop ships from DalTile is box/10 sq ft of 4x8 Modern Dimension is over $8 a sq foot...

if I order from Home Depot the 4x8 Modern Dimension is 3.29

I know some things aren't same quality from the big box stores but I can't believe there is going to be that much difference....is there??

we need to order ASAP because they got permits sooner and are moving quickly...

There is a LOT of contradiction here. HD typically has cheaper prices than Dal. Some folks say that HD carries "seconds." I can't confirm nor deny that. You "Pays Your Money and You Takes Your chances." I DO know that Dal sells to HD and their "Stock Numbers" are different from the official Dal Store. Whether or not they sell "Seconds" to HD is, and has always been up for discussion. Buyer beware! If buying from HD, ALWAYS check the tile for bowing, chipping and size differential. You MIGHT be OK....but always best to check....

It's not exactly termed ''seconds'' but let's just say that there is a lot more variance in tile size with the HD stuff. Perfect if you want that wide groutline handmade type look.

Are you still looking for Daltile French Quarter Mardi Gras tile? i have about 390 (12x12’s) that my daughter had bought to tile her home years ago. We laid most of the tile but then put down wood flooring. This is why we have a surplus of this tile. I also have some 12x6’s and 6x6’s left over from my home project. i love this tile and cannot understand why Daltile would discontinue this product. In fact, i was halfway through with my house when Home Depot quit handling this tile. Then after some time went by, they restocked and I was able to finish my home. try to look up chloe ..American Olean makes them. less expensive choice is dal-tile. You will find it on the home depot website. scroll all the way down and click to just for contractors and look up the tile. anybody can buy it at that price. I did a job for someone using the dal tile black and white floor. The wall was done with 3x6 bright white subway tiles from us ceramic at 14 cents a tile. also purchased at home depot.

Home Depot carries Dal Tile (where I believe Lowes carries American Olean). Perhaps your hex mosaic is from Dal Tiles keystones line? If you call a floor or tile store who carries Dal tile, they may be able to point you to the hex mosaic blend that you got at HD. If the sheet of the blend has been discontinued you might be able to buy sheets of the single colors you need. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Daltile Keystones colors

Although the box stores likely get seconds, I have had great luck with Daltile's Continental Slate from the orange store. It was half the price of the small local tile shops, and the tile shop people were not as helpful as the tile person at the orange store. I usually prefer to buy local but I made an exception and have no regrets about buying tile for 3 bathrooms from the big store. The only difference I noticed was that 6" tiles were actually 12" tiles that had been cut down - but my tilesetter was able to hide the edge differences with good grouting.

Well, we can get the Rittenhouse 3x6 but not the Modern Dimension 4x8 so looks like we are going with the ProSource pricing--need 4x8 bullnose too

we are thinking a 3x6 basketweave pattern on top 3rd--chair-rail transition and then 4x8 in running bond...herringbone would have been an upcharge from the tile guy

the shower is 72" back wall and end walls are 42"...

i think the 3x6 on bottom third in running bond would be a little too busy and the 4x12 in Modern Dimensions is same price as 4x8 but they would be too long for short walls...

Will the 4x8 be too boxy under basketweave?
