Viking Dishwasher?
Comments (17)Gary, If CR really did what you say, and just poke the pretensions of something that costs more because it's prettier or something, without added function, or if a lower price model actually works better, I would have no trouble with it. If you read what they say about their own principles, however, they'll say the same thing I did, only perhaps in sweeter terms. The number one criterion they have is money. The lowest price for baseline functionality, and lowest repair/maintenance cost (which usually means the lowest need for same). It's useful! But it doesn't tell the whole story. Most people I've met who are making major purchases are looking for more than just lowest price. They also want the item that fulfills their desires. They go to CR looking to make sure the item they're looking at isn't a lemon, and end up disappointed because either it wasn't included at all, or it gets a low ranking just because it cost a little more for the features that the consumer in question found most appealing but CR determined to be unnecessary for their baseline. I think it's as important to educate people in the limits of CR as it is to teach them about the limited utility of some of those extra features. Meantime, apologies, My3dogs, I didn't realize that it wasn't public. I haven't had to tech weenie my way in, but I seem to be able to view CR. CTYDDM, another thing to keep in mind if you haven't used a newer dishwasher is that they run very differently. They're designed to save water and energy, so they take a couple of hours to run. If you do want a heated dry, it's an optional cycle on an American machine. It's not available on European machines. The standard drying method requires the mass of a steel interior and the mass of your pans and crockery (they promote putting the pots in the DW not just to show off their power, but because you need the mass), to retain the heat from the wash/rinse. That heat, combined with the cooling air, creates convection (air movement) and evaporation. There may also be a fan to help move the evaporating moisture out of the machine. Rinse aid (Jet Dry) is required to make this work well. The "sheeting action" is a surfactant (aka soap) which is designed to coat the dishes and break the surface tension of the rinse water, making it fall off instead of clinging. This method actually does work well, especially if you have a lot of big dishes, metal flatware and pots. If you have mostly small dishes, thin glasses, and plastics, it doesn't work nearly as well. The detergents are different, too, and what worked, even of the new detergents, in your old DW, might not be as good in the new. The most popular and best rated seems to be Finish Quantum with Powerball tabs. I don't have such dirty dishes, and prefer Method Smarty Dish tabs, which have less oomph, but are probably better for the environment, and adequate for my loads....See MoreCelebrity Wife Swap
Comments (8)Georgysmom, I agree with you -- either accident-related damage or maybe overuse of recreational drugs. But I had my fill of him on Celebrity Apprentice! The Tracey/Carnie swap was interesting. I felt bad when Carnie had just come home from a job somewhere, and that first interaction with the husband (he wanted her to listen to some of the music he was working on, and she just looked at him like he said the most asinine thing), well, I just knew that's a relationship that needed therapy. She was stressed, yes, but as the show wore on, it was clear she was 24/7 stressed. Even with the household help and her aunt (?) helping her. I like the original Wife Swap shows better, tho, cuz they swapped some very interesting people -- survivalists, "tiger moms," a couple who acted as superheroes, etc. Not sure this celebrity version is more than a peek into celebrities' lives, homes, families, rather than the "opening of minds" that the original shows eventually reached. Well, sometimes, that is....See MoreWow, Omorosa wins again!
Comments (8)OaklyOk: In the older Apprentice shows, it used to look like no one ever disagreed with Trump. If you go look at the scenes where the winning team goes back to the room, there are a couple of comments that aren't all that flattering towards Trump. Trump had gone down the line on the Plan B to ask who the weakest link was. Plan B was the winning team, but Trump still had them skewer Gary Busey as the weakest link. It's obvious there is something wrong with Gary and it was totally unnecessary to make his teammates say something bad abut him. Gary was crying when they went back to the room. Either Lisa or Trace said something about how that is how Trump is. As Plan B was watching the discussion about Omarosa, I think Trace pointed out that Trump would not fire Omarosa....See MoreHave you ever walked out of a movie?
Comments (51)I can't really recall if I have walked out because I thought the movie was bad, but I have left and asked for compensation (in the form of a future movie ticket) when the sound or picture got screwy (once, they turned on the bright lights when they were trying to fix things -- can you imagine how startling to our eyes that was!). But I have to say this: In the cases of movies just not being as good as I thought they were going to be, I've never walked out and asked for my money back. Everybody's opinion is different -- and there are plenty of movie reviews out there to help you decide if you want to take the gamble, esp considering the high cost of theater tickets. In a restaurant, if your dinner comes out undercooked, overcooked, overly salted, you'd send it back, of course, to have them make it correctly, but if you just didn't care for it in general, because it didn't match your expectations, would you ask for your money back? What about a book you've purchased from a bookstore, a book that in the end you thought lacked creativity or suspense? Would you return the book and tell the store that the writer was terrible? But asking for money back if you thought the movie was just stupid? That's how I see the 'walk out of the movie and ask for your money back' position. (Not referring to the examples like Dotmom's or when the ratings trick you into thinking that any language is OK for young kids.)...See Moresusanwv
