Before the GW/Houzz merge I used to look at--and occasionally post--pics from Houzz, but then when we were forced to play together, I will admit that I wouldn't even look at Houzz for a long time. Lol, I wouldn't even give them my home address for the free gifts that were randomly sent to GW members. I kept posting to GW, and eventually got over my snit fit, so when there are no new layout questions in Kitchens, I search kitchen related posts in Design Dilemma, and occasionally read the Before & After section, and Stories, if it's a really slow day. I wasn't aware there was an 'Other' in Design Dilemma, but it seems to be like the GW Kitchen Table, where you can discuss any subject, and the conversation sides that several of our forums used to have before the merge. I think Home Dec is the only one that survived. Design Dilemma moves too fast for me, so if I comment on a thread, I bookmark it so I can find it again, without searching a dozen pages.

lobby68, I've seen the meany pros put in their places by assertive posters just telling them they aren't being helpful, or that if they'd read the original post they'd know that buying new/tearing out a wall isn't an option. Or telling someone that isn't being nice that their comments are being ignored because the op doesn't need that kind of help, etc. I also think a few of us call out meannies when they are being that (altho the pros sometimes circle the wagons around their own). So go ahead and post and just don't take any carp from anyone and don't take it personally if someone is mean. We'll try to have your back!

It is extremely easy to "follow" someone inadvertently. I know because I have done it any number of times just while clicking on a post.....get that cursor in the wrong place for a sec and click and voila!!....all of a sudden you are following Jane Doe or Dudley Doright or whoever. You can very easily delete or 'unfollow' whoever you might have clicked on to follow in error. But you cannot delete your own followers. Deactivating that option in your profile - as Emily H (a Houzz administrator) - has indicated her response above is the way to go about ridding yourself of any online "stalkers". And I say "stalkers" very much tongue in cheek!! They are NOT stalking you and in fact have no way of knowing where or when you post. The "following" option is more like a "like" button for a particular poster....not just a post or comment. On the Garden side of the forums where I hang out most of the time, very popular or knowledgeable posters that are valuable contributors have many followers. But unless they look at their own profile regularly, they may never know they are being followed by anyone. It is just not obvious to the member being followed - no obvious signs while participating - nor does it give your followers (either intentional or inadvertent) any indication of where or when you post. (Note: I used to get notifications of new followers but that feature vanished about 35 followers back :-)) As to privacy issues, as long as you don't use your real name and don't divulge any details about specific location, you are about as private here as you can be anywhere online. Deactivating the messaging and following features will provide even greater privacy. I do not belong to Facebook or any other social media so have no idea how those might link up with Houzz but I know they do and IMO, that would be the most likely source of any privacy concerns.

"...any ideas for garage doors color?..." Same as above--there's no difference in the response, simply based on different colors of the front door and trim. If you want to accentuate your garage door, create a strong contrast with the rest of your house and call every visitor's attention to your garage door, make the garage door a color and value which is highly contrasting with your siding color and value. The siding in your two photos of your front doors shows a middle value gray colored siding. For a very high, attention grabing contrast the garage door could either be white or black. Both will create a high contrast with the siding and ensure everyone sees the garage door before anything else. On the other hand, if your house wasn't built to create a setting for your garage door, and you would like to downplay the garage door, and call attention to other architectural features of your house, then paint the garage door a color and value similar to the siding on your house. If you are stil indecisive, someone will be along soon to point out that it's your house and you should just do what you want to do and like best! After all...it's your house.
