Quartz counter tops
Comments (49)We've only had our Cambria quartz counter top for about 1 month and I LOVE it!! I did want more of a shine but find it is not very shiney at all : ( But is sounds like more prefer the less shinier type. Around here the popular ones are Oxford, Nottingham and Victoria from what the dealer told me. I like them too and thought that one of those would be my choice but ended up choosing the new Cranbrook Quarry series just because it went better with the cabinets. Preston and Brownhill were also very nice. I was able to take the small 4"x4" sample home for a few days to decide. I can barely see the seem and love how it cleans. Haven't put anything REALLY hot on it, like a slow cooker, and probably won't just because I'm scared to LOL. Here are some pics.......total cost $5700 (install & tax)...See MorePlease suggest cabinet & counter color; here's my kitchen pics
Comments (59)I'm open to streamlining some of my dishes, mugs, etc. However, my immediate concern is about the fridge, and how goofy it might look sticking out on the new wall. My current fridge is 32" deep. I paid $800 in 2006. I really want to get a much bigger one with the freezer on the bottom and the french doors on the top. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it, and will find a good home for it. I will have to masking-tape out the counter & fridge. I really want more freezer space (that's why I'm open to getting a new fridge). I even considered a small separate freezer but the smaller ones are not automatic-defrost, and I don't want to empty it twice a year, and deal with the water (not having a drain). As mentioned above, maybe a fridge that doesn't extend too much beyond the counter might be better, but I'm not sure how much more freezer space that will give me. I need to research how much capacity my current one is for reference. I looked through it's manual but don't see it referenced. I also need to use the ikea configurator and fully populate the space, and see how much room I want to allocate to trash in the corner. Thanks again for everyone's interest and great ideas! Comments (22)We have the Labrador laminate on the perimeter of our kitchen. It reads more as a black to my eyes, even though it has flecks of brown and gray in it. It looks quite a bit swirly-er on the sample chart than it does in real life. When we first put it in, our cupboards were a golden oak, and the color of the wood really looked nice with the laminate. They played very well together. Since we added a variety of mismatched cupboards to expand our storage on a dime, and since I was trying to lighten the space, we decided to paint them all white to help them blend together. It was a tough call at the time, because once the counters went in, I liked the wood a whole lot more than the way the cupboards looked with the old "butcherblock" laminate that was there before. The labrador hides dust and dirt very well. A little too well for me. : ) I have to clean by feel, since things can blend right in with the pattern of the laminate. When it comes time to redo, I personally will probably go with something lighter colored, since I feel like the darker counters are light-eating (might not be a problem with proper lighting), but I did want to let you know that this laminate looks good with wood. FWIW, here is the kitchen as it looks now:...See MoreLight/White Countertops with Natural Maple Cabinets Picture Request
Comments (108)Michele - Here is a wood kitchens idea book with different floorings in some pics. https://www.houzz.com/plans/wood-kitchens-pp~543268?stepId=saved In my own kitchen I went with old fashion 2 1/4" solid wood flooring throughout the main level (except tiled front entry and powder room). While not trendy, my house and cabinetry are older and it seemed to blend well with the older elements since it is the floor seen in older homes - some over a 100 years old. I went with natural oak as it worked best with my cabinets and doors....See MoreUser
