chinese evergreen elm is losing leaves - any advice

My huge Chinese Evergreen Elm is losing leaves. It was planted about 13 years ago and is about 2 stories tall with deep established roots. It has not received enough water in the past couple months with the extreme temps here in Phoenix AZ. Right now a lot of the leaves are looking a bit sad, there are a bunch yellow and quite a bit has fallen off in the past day with the wind. I am slow deep watering it right now. Is there anything additional that I can do to help it out? Do you think it is likely fine or could have killed it? If there are any suggestions as to how I can help it along please help.

If it loses it's leaves but is not dead - will it just be bare until spring most likely?

My poor tree:
