new addition higher than the original house

I'm adding a addition to my cottage to make my retirement home, it's a slab home in the northern part of the country. I added a new slab with radiant heating so that slab is insulated. I poured the new slab 1 1/2 inches higher than the old one so I could lay sleepers and insulation down to insulate the old one. Which then will make both floors even. If I use standard studs 92 5/8 I'll be a 1 1/2 higher. I could cut every two by ( about a 100) but I rather not or I could have just one 2 x 6 top plate. Is it alright to use only one ? or can I work around the different heights?
