Simple birthday things....

Today is my birthday and hubby got me some things that are "me" and I'm thrilled with.
One thing I've been talking about is a small whisk. Not all tasks need a full-sized whisk. He got me one at our local restaurant supply store. It's perfect, and I'm also ecstatic that it's USA made. I never ever see that here.

Comments (8)Sally, yours is an OXO. They are so big that they are awkward to store. I do hope I use it enough to justify the space it takes up. I will not stick it in the dishwasher until or unles someone says it's OK. About the sewing machine: I actually just got a Kenmore model 16221. I sold the predecessor to this model when I worked at Sears so I know it well. It has a horizontal drop in bobbin, needle threader, and thread slicer. It came with more presser feel and stitch selections than I will ever use. It is so quiet and smooth! Kenmore machines are made by Janome so I'm sure the quality is acceptable. I HATE the presser foot release lever.... there isn't very much to it. Nothing to really grab hold of. The motor is smooth and I like that. I may not keep it though. I REALLY want an old fashioned Singer Featherlight or something similar. Something metal (and beautiful) that can survive me! Comments (3)We've done a book birthday party where DD only got books, which was a great year. (she's a Christmas 12/23 baby so we get buried in toys). I remember one year she got no less than 26 barbies. :-) not counting Barbie's pets, and accessories. Another one we do here that I'd like to do with DD one year is stuffed animals. Then they get donated to local police and fire stations to be used in domestic cases where they call on familes and the children are traumatized. To each his/her own...but if it's anything less than 50, this is exactly the sort of thing that I would keep in either a Word.doc or a simple spreadsheet that could be edited or printed and hung on the fridge whenever you desire. Comments (4)Marilyn, Visit your local pet store and browse thru the grooming supplies section. You should find scissors made just for trimming hair around the feet and ears and they come in different lengths. The tips are rounded so they're much safer than regular scissors. Here's what I use. I suggest buying one that has curved blades since I find them easier to use than the straight blades....See More

Today was a great day. We went to our favourite pet store who was holding a Fido Fest in support of a local dog rescue group. Raffles, 50-50 draw, vendors, etc. Even though we don't have dogs we went to support her. It was hot today so there were wading pools and sprinklers for the dogs and tents for the vendors.
Tonite we attended a concert in the park.......a Swing band playing Glen Miller, Guy Lombardo, Louis Armstrong music.
